The Finale

How long has it been?

It’s been said that David is a quick learner, and apparently this quality also extends to his performance skills. I’ve been gone from these boards about 3 months, but it seems as if he has benefited from the experience of several years.

As some of you may know, I have not been around these parts in a while. I have been tending to my Archuholism as I try to focus on law school and political work. I was actually supposed to write on the Reno performance, but was called back at the last minute to be part of a candidates debate at UC-Berkeley. Frazzled and flummoxed, I looked online to see if there were any tickets available for some other time. And lo and behold, there were tickets available for Salt Lake City, just four seats above the floor! Oh my stars how lucky was I?

So here I was, unspoiled about David’s solo concert. I knew only a few of the songs David would sing, not having seen any videos from the tour except for a couple from the very first stop. On top of that, the E-Center was filled to capacity, and David was going to give all he could for his hometown. And we all know that David’s not too shabby when it comes to finales. So you can imagine my anticipation! After I found my seat I looked up to see a clear view of…

A sound speaker. Apparently, I was one of maybe six people in the entire stadium who had this dang speaker positioned right between me and the lead microphone. This wasn’t a nosebleed seat, but during the opening acts I got a crick in my neck as I alternated between leaning sideways and looking up to the ceiling toward a monitor. I discovered that I could see David better if I sat on the stairwell next to my seat. That brought down the usher, who told me to go back to where I was. Apparently I was violating some fire code. I grumbled and parked my arse. I didn’t know I was so dangerous.

On to the important stuff. David is strengthening as a singer. Here he was, outdoing himself on nearly every song on which I had seen him before, hitting the hard notes more strongly than I remember. And he was able to do this through his entire set.

I grinned and listened for the little touches he added to the songs, thinking about what I could over-think and over-analyze for y’all. “I am here to appreciate a true musician,” I tell myself.

And then something happened. During “Barriers,” while charmingly acting out the lyrics as he lilted through the verses (I love this song!), David sings “We’re not getting any stronger,” flexes his bicep and pats it.

Holy picante sauce! Since when did David become such a flirt? And such a showman to boot. He seems to have a wry self-awareness as he goes through his set—relaxed, and simply enjoying pleasing and performing for the crowd.

Then at other moments he’s exuberant, running around the stage, jumping up and down like an eighteen-year-old. Wait! He IS an eighteen-year-old! His energy is contagious: there’s a definite party atmosphere. I haven’t been to a lot of concerts, but this was by far the most FUN I’ve had during a concert.

Again: how long has it been?

And he goes through his songs with a new aggressiveness: he’s stomping, pleading, pointing, giving burning looks, pushing his shoulder forward. Before his solo tour, even as he became intense (DLTSGDOM) it was as if he went to some inner place. Then later last fall, he started to bring out the dance and slinked through “Works for Me!” and ran through “Crush” – but still with some self-consciousness and reserve.

But that’s all gone now. David is confident, looking straight at the audience, knows exactly what he is doing with his movements, and enjoying every minute of it. There’s no choreography here—his movements are raw, natural. He gets into the groove of the song and lets the song move his body. He has grown to become – dare I say it? – very SEXY.

There. I said it. Is that a bad word around here? 🙂 Has it been like this all through the tour? He may not be hip swiveling, but there is definitely some X factor going on here.

How long has it been?

David breaks out into “Como La Flor” and gives us some soft consonants. I close my eyes and savor the aural chocolate.

Then he stopped! David, I love you, but yo quiero hear the full song, with some sultry background music.

Virtually every song is different from the studio versions and made better, more intense, more immediate. During AI, although he did creative and wonderful things with his runs and with tone and melody, he generally stayed within the ballad/pop mode of singing. But now David is showing more and more of his soul roots.

There’s nice little surprises – I loved his little play on pronunciation in Barriers (“Open up our ay-ees”), And I also loved the end to “Works for Me!,” when he added a couple of funky syncopations that reminded me of classic R&B and funk. And oh my heck the soulful acappella ending to “My Hands” was brilliant. I don’t know if he improvised or not, but either way the notes he found were surprising, somehow just right, and passionate.

David’s description of the kind of music he wants to do – I believe it was soul-infused pop – truly is fitting. I would love to hear him do more crossover stuff in this area in the future.

Or maybe he could become a dance club artist. I had heard the studio recording of “Zero Gravity” and I had seen his very first performance of this on YouTube. But none of that prepared me for the energy in that room! This song was catchy, fun, and danceable, and made you want to jump in the air (zero gravity!). David and most of the crowd were jumping up and down. And whoever said David can’t dance? This is destined to be a single and I can’t wait to see the music video. 🙂

And on the topic of singles, this song and “Barriers,” were very, VERY fun songs live, and I think they both could be pop hits. (My humble opinion of course.)

And then there was “Somebody Out There.”

Some of you will know that I already have a love affair with this song. SOT and I go waay back. It’s simple, it’s earnest, it’s raw, just perfect for David to add his soulful touch. And it’s no coincidence, of course, that David co-wrote it.

Well, he surpassed the studio version by a mile. Whatever place in his spirit this song came out of, David is digging even deeper now. There’s an extra ounce of yearning and earnestness in every word. And I love his musical touches: the delicious “Oooh” during the bridge, the contrasting variation at the beginning of the last chorus. Then that phrase in the very last moments of the song – there are no words! How does David manage to be so creative, innovative – on top of that masterful in his execution – in breaking our hearts like that! We are witnessing a musical maestro.

And David ended the night with “Angels.”

THIS is how I wanted him to play it since I saw his EFY performance – his voice soaring above a lone piano. And he outdid himself – again.

He managed to bring the intimacy from his Seton Hall performance, and combined that with the awesome power of his Tulsa performance. And now he played the bridge on the piano (yay!), and took the song to that higher level.

We knew we were witnessing something great – it was as if a fierce storm had built up and was passing through the place. The final screams and cheers began long before David’s last notes.

THIS is a glimpse into David’s future. Years down the line, after his career is established and long enough that we can look back on his list of triumphs, THIS is the image of David that people will think of the most—a singer accompanying himself on the piano, voice soaring, bringing out every emotion, from bliss to pain to contentment.

When I think back to last night, I think most to his piercing cry near the end of “Angels.”

And that was how David bade farewell: farewell to us fans, farewell to his first solo tour. I felt a strange sense of bittersweetness – not just because he leaves us for the UK, where I know he will win over thousands of new hearts when he reprises their “Angels” with a dose of American soul – but also because when he comes back he won’t be exactly as I now know him. He will have grown even more in talent, broadened his horizons, discovered new powers within himself.

Although he will always be the same David, in some strange way I will barely recognize him.

And I’ll be shaking my head saying: “How long has it been?”

* Postscript: It really is true what they say that Utahns are nice. My airport shuttle driver was talkative – after coming back back from the war 38 years ago, he stayed in Salt Lake City one winter for work. He spent the summer there, and fell in love with the place.

“Great place to raise a family,” he said. “Crime is low, not a lot of bad things for kids to get drawn up in. Last year, there were 55 murders in Utah.”

Pretty dang low!

I stood in a huge line at the airport, when actually (because I had no luggage to check-in) I should have just gone straight to the express line. To my right, rushing up to the express line, is Jeff! He appears to be in a hurry, so I decide not to bother him. Besides, I didn’t want to lose in my place in that long line. (I still didn’t know I didn’t belong there.)

But apparently there’s something Jeff needs, so he steps out. I walk up to the counter and get my boarding pass. When I turn around, I see Jeff – and David!

All these thoughts race through my mind – there’s that awesome, uber-talented guy who sang his heart out last night! I thought I would never get to see him in person again! And he and I have matching jackets!!

I approach him and say “David!”, but apparently he thinks I’m some old friend he no longer recognizes or that I’m crazy. I should have prefaced it with “I’m a fan!” or “I was at the concert!”

He gives me a look of either confusion or profound concern.

Then I say “You were awesome last night.”

“Thank you!!” His voice is hoarse, and he puts his hand up to his mouth as he clears his throat. He gave his all last night!

“Oh, you must be on vocal rest!” I take out my wallet and remove the “Rising Star Outreach” charity card that was given out during the concert. I flip it around to Molapro’s drawing and ask David to sign it – and give him my blue ballpoint pen.

He furrows his eyebrows as he scratches the pen onto the card to get the ink flowing. He scrawls his signature. (Stupid me. I had a Sharpie in my bag!)

I thanked him and went on my way, grinning. I must have looked like an idiot, with my stupid words and my stupid pen. But yay – I just bumped into David!

And later on, at my departure gate, there was David, at a nearby gate with Jeff and Lupe. Several people approach and take pictures with him. I glare at them with jealousy as I realize I should I have brought a camera with me.

Didn’t Silverfox also get to bump into David – twice? I think that we in the nD/jD community are blessed. Good karma for all the love we show on this page, I sez.

Moral of the story? Stand in the wrong line. You never know what will happen. And join the nD/jD community too.

    Oh my, Ronald. Great post!

Buy my oh my do you have some catching up to do. There is a treasure trove of moments on the tour page.

Salt Lake was EPIC and I’m glad you got to go…but you missed some unbelievably hot/sweet/incredible moments as he played and whittled and honed his performance from Virginia Beach to Salt Lake. My oh my. There were a lot of ice cubes being doled out.

You should start with Duluth. (whistling innocently) No wait, you’d better work your way up to that slowly. Bwahahahahaha!

We should start a list of favorite tour moments.

  2. 2 beebee March 29, 2009 at 2:36 am

{{{{ronald}}}}} Oh I’ll be savoring this. I’ve only read it through once.

You bumped into him TWICE! You and SF have the magic vibe.

And hey, soul-infused pop FTW! guh! He is a maestro!

I am sooooo HAPPY you had such an incredible time. The Vids from Last night are amazing, as the roll in.

Ok, Imma try and SIMMER DOWN now. heh Thank you for such a fabulous recap.

    Ronaldsf,

Wonderful review! So glad you got to go to the finale and meet David too. We have all been squeeeing over the videos from SLC all day, so it must have been a tremendously epic experience to be there. I can understand your being bowled over by David’s new level of performance skills if you have been away from the tour vids for awhile. Even those of us who have followed and compared each show have been astonished. SLC was truly a notch up the scale.
You didn’t know David was a flirt? 😆

  4. 4 ronaldsf March 29, 2009 at 3:00 am

I had such a great time there!

Juliebug, I will go straight to the Duluth videos when I get the chance. Ice cubes at the ready!

Thanks for the responses, everybody. This review just grew and grew! Sensory overload, and there was still more to write about! It’s just too much, just too much!

And no, I didn’t know David was such a flirt. *flits eyelashes*

    Was SLC his best night?

  5. 6 ronaldsf March 29, 2009 at 6:55 am

An excellent version of “Works for Me!” from Salt Lake City:

  6. 7 ronaldsf March 29, 2009 at 7:12 am

This is ZG, also from Brett (great videos, Brett! wherever you are!). From 2:53 on, INTENSE:

Oh, and I love David’s Latin accent speaking English in this one. Authentic! 🙂

  7. 8 renaid March 29, 2009 at 8:33 am

RonaldSF, I have always enjoyed reading your posts but you have outdone yourself with this one. I felt that I had experienced it although I have never had the opportunity to see David live. And the videos by Brett were the absolute best. ZG especially felt like we were there too…and the shakiness he appologizes for in the beginning only adds to it. Thank you. I’m so glad you had such a great time and then to meet David at the airport! Wow you and Silverfox do have the luck.

    Holy picante sauce! Tremendous review.

Good morning everyone! Ronaldsf, it’s so good to hear from you and to get such an exciting and detailed review. Bumping into David at the airport, even when he’s hoarse and confused, must have been thrilling. 🙂

Great review, Ronald!! So great that you bumped into him.

Nice Review Ronald… it was so exciting as I started reading to know you had been completely untarnished to all the previous shows. Wow.. what a feeeling. LOL. I want to go read it again… it was so awesome.. the anticipation you build up is fantastic !!!

    Abrra… good morning honey.. email.

I caught up on yesterday’s thread.. see… there IS a God..because he kept me in bed with my fever… I can’t be part of any confession session.. .holy macaroni…

    And an intervention ?

    Oh yeah..no..that probably won’t help.

Yes yes YES.. I was not only glued to KCA…but I watched it with my 2 year old granddaughter Mariah.. who was thrilled that Spongebob won.

HOWEVER.. Mariah recognizes David by site and sound.. she’s my little ODD buddy. Everytime my phone rings… she yells Grandma…David’s calling you. LOL ~!~~~~

Okay.. enough sharing… Happy will be here.

  13. 14 river992 March 29, 2009 at 10:11 am

Hey.. so great to see you back and to read this wonderful, extensive review. I was thrilled for you to experience what so many of us saw during the tour. Be sure to check out my buddy DJxoxo’s Sayerville videos as David mentions this one as a favorite concert. She and I believe Sayreville and Northampton also gave us the “best outfits on David” plus ample time with band members. To be so close to him during the intimate songs was surreal and ZG became our anthem.
Anyway, I digress. Thanks for this post..we were all anxious for it..and I’m so happy you got a few moments with him at the airport. He must have been exhausted. He said at Kids Choice that he got no sleep the night before. He left it ALL on the stage.

  14. 15 dawn65 March 29, 2009 at 10:29 am

river..”DJxoxo’s Sayerville videos as David mentions this one as a favorite concert”… you caught that too right?

You should have seen me when he said that.. it was like Christmas at my house.. I was replying back to the monitor.. LOL.

Magic in Sayerville. I think it all goes back to the Barriers moment. That’s when he first felt “the pulse of the audience” .. and became VERY aware of the fact that he held it in the palm of his hand. He embarrassed himself testing that theory.. but wow..lightbulb moment for him.

  15. 16 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 11:11 am

Ronalsf: Great review! It was especially fun to know you had been out of the David loop for a while and were going to get a ::thud:: moment when you saw his performance skills had zoomed through the roof. I felt like I was there with you as I read and felt the excitement and awe in your words.

And, ah yes, David is a flirt – in a good way. He taps that bicep, shakes his head and bounces and makes eye contact with the audience, and communicates to every one of them his love for them and for the music. I sent a link to one of the SLC videos to a friend yesterday and she is not a David fan like we are, but likes him well enough. But she said, “Oh, my god, he can really communicate with the audience, can’t he?” I felt like a proud mother

  16. 17 sandybeaches2009 March 29, 2009 at 11:13 am

I have just redirected this so timing may be off…

Dear jD friends…but first..thanks ronald, I so enjoyed reading your review!!

We flew for 12 hours on Thursday with one connection…we watched David for 1 1/2 hours…we flew home the next day for again another 12 hours…My husband said to me on the plane..”Would you like to read? Would you like to talk or something?”I said…”no thanks I think that I will sleep for the 12 hour trip!!!” Not quite right…I reviewed in my mind the visit with jD friends and the rest of the time I closed my eyes and listened to the concert in my mind…it was so wonderful…

I said to my husband…”We flew all of one day…watched an eighteen year old sing for awhile and then flew home again the next day, are we crazy??? ” His answer…”No, because in time you will be flying yet again for another day and watching a 19 year old sing and then fly home the next day”…he knows doesn’t he?

I can’t verbalize yet the enormous enjoyment of being there with friends and seeing David…but the consensus is that a light shone on him on the stage unlike a light that could shine on anyone else…his smile was constant…he was handsome beyond any words that I can find…he simply took your breath away…and his eyes, oh his eyes…Well I watched my husband to see his reaction to David singing and he had a fixed smile…everyone stood…everyone rocked the night away…

    To use awestruck’s stage name…I was awestruck…

While David sang his final two encore numbers, Mike came to sit behind us with his wife and family for a brief time…I met with Alex and Eli extending my hand to congratulate them on the wonderful success of their tour…Eli was a bit surprised perhaps because I was not there for a picture or for an autograph but to congratulate a musician following an amazing concert tour…

    Part 2 to follow…about meeting jD friends…

  17. 18 sandybeaches2009 March 29, 2009 at 11:21 am

Yes…David is flirting…knows how to flirt…and knows very well that he is flirting…the roars from the audience when he flexed his bicep proved all of that…fun follows him everywhere he goes…

  18. 19 river992 March 29, 2009 at 11:22 am

sandyb.. I was waiting to hear about your trip. so cool. I really appreciated what you said about meeting the band as I tried to do exactly the same thing when I met them both times. I never mentioned David and really wanted to congratulate them and thank them. They were so welcoming and just happy to stand around and chat about their lives… even Ray.
Mike especially really listened and treated you as a friend, not a fan. I treasure those moments.Such genuine people and the perfect choices to work with David. I am proud of them all.

  19. 20 desertrat (aka ebonyangel) March 29, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Great review Ronaldsf! I hope meeting David in the airport made up for your speaker obstructed view at the E-center.

Going back to the previous thread:

I enjoyed all the concert comments/reviews. Reading them really gave me a sense of what it was like to be there.

calliexoda, the neil diamond top 5 video is also one of my favorites. For some reason, I get a chuckle seeing David dancing btwn Brooke and Syesha.

  20. 21 quiteblanc March 29, 2009 at 12:16 pm

    Hi ronaldsf,

Your wonderful review de-lurked me. Missed you at Reno, and spent hours in line and a great evening with collegemom and our husbands. Mine came all the way from Geneva, Switzerland to see David. I had the ticket to SLC, unfortunately I had to give the ticket away at the last minute because I had to take care of my mom. Richard promised me to meet my request – give to a guy to increase David’s male fan. Live version of Barriers & SOT are incredible. With ZG and WFM,they keep me busy every night.

  21. 22 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 12:22 pm

    Good afternoon all!

Ronald, great post! Great recap! Great…wha??? You ran into David? Hahahaha!
SO GREAT! I know how & what you felt and all the woulda, shoulda, coulda thoughts after running into HIM the first time. Then the next time, it’s like you want to apologize profusely so he won’t think you’re some crazy stalker, but just a CRA-ZEH forever fan! Then the NEXT time, it gets weird, and you honestly hope (kinda) that it doesn’t happen again..cuz it’s getting too weird! But instead, he makes you feel like you matter and you KNOW why you’re in it, why you will be there for him from afar, unconditionally, no matter where he goes, what he does. He becomes an integral part of your life. Like it was meant to be. Whether your paths ever “meet” again doesn’t matter. I feel so incredibly lucky to have been this () close to David. I will never be one of those fans who have an inside track, who have become close to his parents, who will always have the best seats in the concert halls, who will always get back-stage passes, etc..and that is OK. As long as David knows he has fans like me, like US, who will be there for him forever, no matter what, that’s enough for me.

The SLC concert was one of the most memorable and wonderful experiences in my life. My life has been a series of extremes highs & lows. This last year has been a roller coaster ride. Starting with the beginning of AI, culminating with the SLC concert. The highs coming every time I hear The Voice, the lows of coming down after seeing David in concert, or seeing anything negative associated with David. There have been some great recaps of the concert and David’s performance, so there’s really not more I can add to David’s actual performances. I have mentioned this before about how this song “Lost Inside Of You” by Barbra Streisand perfectly describes where I GO when I’ve seen David in concert…

    “Time has come again
And love is in the wind
Like some music in a dream
You made them all come true
When you came inside of my life
Now I’m lost inside of you
Lost in the music and lost in your eyes
I could spend all of my time
    Hearing songs you sing
    Feeling love you bring
    Darling being close to you
Made all my dreams come true
When you came inside my life
Now I’m lost inside of you”

Short & simple lyrics, but such a powerful meaning for me as it encapsulates exactly how David makes ME feel when I hear The Voice, and even more so, live in concert.

My sister & I had great floor seats, same row right next to TOfan & refnaf. I took no photos, no video. I was lost in David’s music, lost in David’s eyes. I was lost inside of him. He owned me, heart & soul, he will own me, heart & soul until the day I die. He has made me do & say things I never thought I would (sounds familiar?). I have met so many wonderful people who feel exactly as I do, making how I feel not so OTT, but comforting, knowing I’m not alone in my feelings, knowing there are so many others who can relate to the lyrics. I met so many wonderful people before, at & after the concert..too many to name all of them here ( of course, it could be cuz I just don’t remember all the names, that happens at my age! Don’t know whether to 😆 or 😥 ). David isn’t even aware of this added dimension to all his other charismatic qualities, the ability to bring people together, who will forge lifelong friendships starting with and because of our unconditional forever love for David.

  22. 23 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 12:42 pm

I wanted to bring something to everyone’s attention about when David sings one of his
best & most heartfelt performances of SOT..he’s singing to “someone” to the right of the stage (his left). It so happens this is where his family, friends and specifically his MOM was sitting. Something tells me he was singing to his Mom. I’m sure of it.

  23. 24 olemr2001 March 29, 2009 at 1:09 pm

SF, thank you for telling us about SOT and David and his mom.

  24. 25 mikesd March 29, 2009 at 1:20 pm

    Hi!

Not a lot of time as I have to work today…yes on Sunday…Realtors do not get Sundays off!. Ronald sorry about your seat but glad you ran into David. I’ve had that experience a few times and it is awesome!

My seat? Third row center on the floor directly in line with David’s mic and eyes… Need I say more? I will. Felt like a personal concert, lots of eye contact ( a bit or recognition since I have seen him up close a few times).. Truly a mind blowing experience in every sense of the word. The Voice, beyond words…the moves…OMG…

    Gotta go to work…more later!

  25. 26 river992 March 29, 2009 at 1:23 pm

SF- Thanks for that insight. I just rewatched SOT with new eyes. Very touching. Just off the phone with Lily who had wonderful things to tell. Perhaps she will post once she is home.

  26. 27 JONER March 29, 2009 at 1:29 pm

SF – You’re observation brings such a new dimension to watching David sing SOT. Now if we could just find someone who could tell us what the expression on Lupe’s face was when he sang that song that would be so cool!

  27. 28 freofan March 29, 2009 at 1:32 pm

From what little I know, I would not be surprised at all if David was singing SOT to his mother.

  28. 29 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 1:45 pm

This has nothing to do with anything other than the song is Stand By Me and it speaks to the universality of music

  29. 30 Angelica March 29, 2009 at 1:54 pm

    SF,

What a beautifully written recap, and the lyrics to the Streisand song are so apropos to what we feel for David and his music. It is wonderful the way he has brought so many people together, who would have never met. We may not be in the inner circle, but we are in the circle of love he inspires.

  30. 31 sandybeaches2009 March 29, 2009 at 1:54 pm

I want so much to write about meeting with jD fans in SLC and how it brings a good vibe to the site to plan for future concert get togethers…because it was amazing…

I went over to the FOD site for a moment and they put it best…too tired to think…too tired to write…

  31. 32 olemr2001 March 29, 2009 at 1:56 pm

Off topic. It has been mentioned at rickey’s and idolforums that David Cook has cancelled his next few shows. I hope everything is all right, and I wish him well. Although our allegiance here is to David Archuleta, I think we all cannot help being a little concerned.

  32. 33 Angelica March 29, 2009 at 2:06 pm

    olemr2001,

I hope he is alright too. That has to be tough to have to cancel.

  33. 34 river992 March 29, 2009 at 2:16 pm

marlie7.. loved that SBM. I forwarded the link to all that I thought could appreciate it. Cook was to be at 3 CT colleges this month..had not heard about cancellations but that’s troubling.I also read that he was to guest on Idol this week, I assume on results night. Seems odd since usually the winner performs near the finale.

  34. 35 renaid March 29, 2009 at 2:17 pm

My first thoughts go to his brother, Adam. Whatever the reason, I hope it really is nothing too serious. Perhaps a cold or touch of flu from which he can quickly recover.

Marlie7, wonderful video. Thanks for posting it. I loved this song when I was a kid, loved it again when John Lennon sang it, and of course, loved it when David lit up the airways with it. This video speaks for itself and I hope everyone here clicks on the link. They are in for a very special musical and emotional experience.

As for David’s performance of SOT in SLC, what can you say? The English language was not created with this kind of beauty in mind, so words like breathtaking, fantastic, magnificent, etc. simply do not get to the core of his performance. David invites you into his soul, and if you’re prepared to feel things you haven’t felt before, you are in for a potentially life altering experience. David lovingly shows you what life can be. It’s not a cold, lonely place after all. It’s filled with warmth, friendship, caring, and forgiveness. You just have to open yourself up and allow all that is “out there” to
get “in there”. David takes you by the hand and gently leads you to where you thought you’d never go. Music is his mode of transportation. “Hop on” he says when he sings to you. “Lets’s
share the love and the joy together.” I cannot imagine a better companion with whom to take that journey.

  37. 38 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 2:20 pm

bliss: Beautiful words indeed. There’s something about David that makes me feel like being a better person. That does remind me of the warmth and caring between people. We see that here – a community built around a shared love of David and his music.

  38. 39 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 2:23 pm

sandybeaches!..just had to let you know how very much I loved meeting you! You are a beautiful lady and very lucky to have a loving husband who would travel a total of 24 hours with you to see David in concert, with no expectations other than to see & hear The Voice in concert. You may be feeling a kind of withdrawal which is an after or side affect from seeing David live in concert. It’s a surreal feeling, coming down from the euphoria & anticipation before the concert, then you crash when it’s over…cuz he’s so good at leaving you wanting more. I’m going through all these feelings right now. When & wherever his next U.S. (or Canadian) tour is announced, I WILL be there at as many as I possibly can attend.

olemr..Cook got some bad press about his coming down on his fans about stalkers etc. I hope that is NOT the reason for the cancellation. It could very well be a personal situation. I do hope it has nothing to do with his brother though. And even though I may not support Cook, I don’t wish him any harm either because of David’s high regard & respect for Cook.

  39. 40 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 2:41 pm

SF, SB: I remember well the fog that surrounded me for several days after seeing David live. People say they are still “processing” the experience, and I think that is the best description. Emotions and thoughts are churned up that can’t even be captured in those first few days. It is like being numb, caught in a swirling eddy and being capable only of observing your own curling, curving flailing body, but not doing anything about it. Very strange, almost unnerving, but in a way quite calming. As though you don’t have to do anything about it – just be in it.

    Rambling….

  40. 41 ronaldsf March 29, 2009 at 3:04 pm

Has it been only me and silverfox who have bumped into David? I must be really lucky then. Pays for the crappy seat LOL!

Dawn65, I looked back at the video for that “Sayerville moment” moment, and the first thing I thought was “Hey, David! Look at the audience!” He was so reserved, and seemed kinda nervous about getting the song right! And then I look at SLC’s Barriers and it’s night and day! And the way he moved his body–

    *ice cube*

Quiteblanc, sorry you missed SLC, and sorry we didn’t cross paths again! But that’s great that your hubby flew in from so far! Was that his first David concert?

  41. 42 ronaldsf March 29, 2009 at 3:14 pm

Silverfox! Those were my exact emotions! You’re jumping up and down inside but then trying to appear calm outside, and certain that you have this deer-in-the-headlights look despite all your best efforts. And that he must think you’re weird – that was why I didn’t approach him again at the departure gate.

Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to the phase where he thinks I matter yet. Haha!

This is my shoulda-coulda-woulda: I shoulda told him I wrote the Ballad. I really want to know if he’s read it!

    Dangit!

  42. 43 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 3:34 pm

i don’t know if this has vid from the red carpet at the KCA has been posted..if not, here it is…Snarky’s says to watch for Jeff who comes into camera range, but did not mention that Lupe can also be seen IN THE BACKGROUND! Way to go, mom!

    http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/03/video-david-archuleta-reveals-his-ideal-woman

That woman, Lupe, has CLASS in spades. I observed her interactions with people at the afterparty and I can say without a doubt, the best part of David comes from his mom.

  43. 44 juliebug March 29, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Look! It’s a French site that pics an artist each day to feature. Today is David Arhuleta’s day. They are airing like EVERYTHING!

Sorry to intrude on the discussion…….. I am working on David’s Tour 2009. I have made nearly all the mp3’s from YouTubes. I am making good sound a priority. Doing my best to get ones with him introducing the song and minimal screaming.
I need suggestions for You Can and DLG with the Fray line in it. I forget when he began doing that. A lot of the video’s start late so I rejected them. Others have bad sound or a lot of talking/screaming over his singing.

Anyone have a favorite version of either song from the tour? Please post the link. I am that close to burning the Cd and testing the quality.

  46. 47 Angelica March 29, 2009 at 5:13 pm

    Abrra,

DLG, Sayreville by djbell13 is good. Best? I don’t know but the audio is good and Sayreville is the one where the collapse is very pronounced at 2.35 and then he comes up looking like he’s channeling Elvis at 2.37. Lip action. lol.

For You Can, will need to do more research, or someone else may know a good one. brb.

  47. 48 Angelica March 29, 2009 at 5:23 pm

    Abrra,

BTW, I know you’re just doing audio but just thought I’d throw that observation in cause I think he was really into the song there. Anyway, off to check out You Cans.

  48. 49 Abrra March 29, 2009 at 5:25 pm

    Angelica March 29, 2009 at 5:13 pm
I found that DLG to have a clipped start. Maybe being a tad too picky? What do you think? I am trying for either a speaking or musical into. I have it on all so far.

Thanks for the help 🙂 I will stop in later.

I forgot to add, tickets for the 6/20 concert are $24, $47, and $57. This is a seated event! You have to know the David Archuleta Fan Clup presale password to order now.

  55. 56 freofan March 29, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Interesting about the fair performance! I also found out that Cook is doing a performance at a county fair about 20 minutes from my house in Sept. This county is very rural.

  56. 57 desertrat (aka ebonyangel) March 29, 2009 at 7:20 pm

freofan, i just checked and david cook is also performing at the del mar fairgrounds; his performance date is listed as 6/18.

  57. 58 freofan March 29, 2009 at 7:25 pm

Very interesting! I wonder if they are performing some of these fairground stints together!? If David is performing at the fairground near my house I will just die…..Joner…..! I already have visions of inviting David over to enjoy a cook-out on our new patio this summer. 🙂

I am immersed in the fog and still utterly exhausted. I can’t even begin to put into words the experience of seeing David in SLC. His smile could have lit up several city blocks, his performance skills have increased exponentially since I saw him in Northampton, his voice is indescribable and the concert was WAY too short. It almost felt as though time stood still. I blinked, and then it was over. My short stay in Utah was made even more special by meeting so many fans and being able to talk about David without the eye rolls and glazed expressions I get from friends and family, so thank you particularly to the jD folks I met and spent time with there.

Tawna, I loved your story about your husband at the hardware store. Please give him a hug from me!

Ronaldsf, I enjoyed your review all the more for your fresh eyes and ears. What I want to know is how you were able to stay away so long. I have spent a lot of my waking hours today sighing. How does one go from great joy to feeling so blue? Being so tired doesn’t help.

  64. 65 quiteblanc March 29, 2009 at 8:35 pm

    ronaldsf –

Yes, it is my hubby’s first David concert. He was impressed and truly enjoyed it. He got it. I am pretty sure that he will go to David’s concert again (no more general admission though)

    Silverfox –

Believe or not, I had the honor to “meet” you in the elevator at Grand Sierra. It was about 11:30 pm after David’s concert. My husband and I finished midnight snack, and just three of us (we are Chinese in our 60s) took the same elevator to 16th floor. I saw your famous YouTube blasting “Crush” in the parking lot several times. I thought you might be “SF”, but was afraid to make a fool of myself. You had a black/white/silver baseball cap on, therefore I wasn’t sure. We smiled to each other, but I wasn’t brave enough to say “hi”. I regretted after I stepped out of the elevator! Your description of the outfit for that day in jD afterward confirmed everything! I was hoping to meet you in SLC, but unfortunately I had to stay home to take care of my mom after her fall. Until we really meet again…….

  65. 66 sandybeaches2009 March 29, 2009 at 8:37 pm

silverfox…Imagine…if we were twenty something…just think about it!!!

When my husband gives a hug “and” a kiss when first meeting someone then you know you are special to him…and of course he knew about you…all things good and he knew that I was anticipating meeting you…He went out when we were all talking somewhere and bought cheese/crackers and wine in case we ended up with time after the concert…

I knew that this concert would be exceptional with the hint that it was to be in his home town being a factor…

I have been at a loss all day but still able to have songs running through my mind…I went out with my daughter this afternoon and we were deciding who would drive and she thought that it would be best if she did because apparently I still had not come down from the high…of course those were her observations…!!

So now I guess it is time to be grateful for what we had in SLC, who we spent time with and of course that we have been given the opportunity to be with David, his band and to see his family…gotta love it all…

This site is a fun place to come to with great people to talk to and I look forward once again with anticipation to the days ahead…

  66. 67 LittleM March 29, 2009 at 8:39 pm

    Hey Guys!

I wonder if David might be playing alot of radio station “summer bashes” as well this summer, in addition to the fairs? They seem to be similar to the jingle thingys. I started thinking about this because I was listening to B96 Chicago today and they announced that Kelly Clarkson and Black Eyed Peas, among others, would be performing at their summer bash…it’s June 13 at Toyota Park on the South Side, where the Chicago Fire Soccer Team plays

    knotliser,

I know all about the sighing and then the swallowing hard to fight back the tears till your throat feels like it’s gonna explode. Seeing/hearing David live is a very emotional experience and brings stuff up that you didn’t even know was there. I think he somehow connects to our souls and our spirits mourn a little when it’s over. Get plenty of rest. Cry if you need to. Don’t try to fight it like I did, (I pride myself on a certain emotional stoicism). It only makes it worse when the flood of emotion washes over you, and it will. (((hug)))

  70. 71 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 9:05 pm

Just got some GREAT seats for Del Mar…and again I’m saying to myself “What am I thinking” only cuz it’s way over on the west coast! I just gotta!!

quiteblanc…why-oh-why didn’t you say HI? I really don’t mean to sound like I’m special or anything, and this is gonna sound like I’m so full of myself (I don’t mean to) but you have no idea how many people come up to me at the concerts I’ve been to and ask if I’m “silverfox”. The hair is a dead give-away I’m told. I LOVE meeting David’s fans and I love knowing so many feel like I do about David. I love hearing the Prayer is recited every night by so many of David’s fans. I love hearing my Crush Cruise made them feel good. I love when I’m asked about how it felt to be in the elevator with David! I love to hug people who love David as I do! I love to LAUGH with people who love David as I do. This is part of what makes being in David’s universe so special. It’s a great feeling and makes my journey with David all the more special.

SB..I would have LOVED to have spent time with you and your hubby after the concert. The afterparty at the comedy club was not fun. Not at all what TOfan, refnaf, my sis Theresa, or I expected. We should have organized a get together at the hotel after the concert. We would have had a great party! Live & learn, I guess. We will see each other again later this year I am sure, when David tours in Easten Canada or somewhere closer to where you live.

  71. 72 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 9:15 pm

Hmm, just went to the New York State Fair site and see that Kelly Clarkson is performing and Gavin DeGraw is her warm-up. Kenny Chesney is another night. 8 slots still to fill with entertainment. (Please, please, David)

  72. 73 river992 March 29, 2009 at 9:33 pm

If David comes East this summer I will be there. Lily just called to say she’s booking the CA event..so close to her. Once again I wish I had SF’s determination to get there, but duty calls that week the last few days of school. Come on David.. boogie on out in our direction. DJB needs a new set of videos.

  73. 74 silverfox March 29, 2009 at 9:34 pm

Speaking of summer tours, we will be seeing a lot of State Fair concerts by several artists. Kelly Clarkson w/special guest Gavin Degraw will be appearing here at the KY State Fair in August. I was thinking how great it would be if David is asked to be a special guest for Kelly. How fitting it would be since he sang for her during the first season of AI and she was blown away! I think it would be an awesome combination.

Have to get back to my normal life & routine starting tomorrow, so good night to everyone..and for David, who is adored beyond reason by so many…

Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
    Amen.

David, sweet dreams. Be safe & secure in our love always! Contigo siempre con amor!

  74. 75 tawna21 March 29, 2009 at 9:42 pm

ronaldsf– Thanks alot buddy!! You made me start to cry–again–with your post. Just when I think I’m getting it under control with my SLC experience, you post that beautiful piece of English literature. As David would say, “Amazing”. “Oh wait, I say that too much”.

You made me laugh with your description of your seats. I had what should have been good seats, also, but I had a group of 3-4 teen girls that came from who knows where and decided to plant themselves right in front of me right towards the beginning of the show. I kindly asked them to remember that I had a ticket for this seat and a right to see the show, so would they please go back to their seats. They hung around for a bit then left. THEN– ZG is about to happen, and lo and behold, they do too! I nudged one of them on the arm- and asked them to move over, but they didn’t. Okay, my patience is wearing thin ( no! it’s gone), so I nudged her foot with my foot and she looks at me and says “did you just kick me?”, and at that I just replied “you need to move”. She did a little. I felt like such an ogre, but dangit I wanted to see too.

I was wishing that I could hang around a bit after the concert, but my husband really wanted to get home. His bad back was starting to get bad. I’m forever in his debt for taking me to the concert. Although, he readily admitted he enjoyed it and the people that he met with me. It made him happy to see me happy, cuz I’ve had some ugly times at my job lately which has caused me to cry sad tears. Anyway, on the last thread I posted a situation involving him yesterday and how he defended David’s music. I loved it when he related the incident to me.:)

    Rambling–

Veeerrry interesting about the state fair news! I really don’t think that the fair gigs are the “big” tour that is being rumored for this summer (I really think that David is opening for a very big artist), but they could be part of a side gig related to Idol. I bet we will know in the coming days as soon as any info is leaked. We’re the Archie FBI!

SB and knotliser–thanks for your time is SLC. SB I wish I could have seen you after the show. I ran into knotliser at the elevator. Seemed kind of weird to just leave and not say ‘bye. My husband really enjoyed visiting with your’s. My hubby is quite chatty in case you didn’t notice. I hope he didn’t wear your’s out! Hopefully there will be another time for a whole lot of us to be together.

Ronaldsf: I watched Brett’s youtubes before replying so I could see the closest thing to what you saw on Friday night. I’ve been following the shows from the beginning and SLC was really magical. I’m so happy that you got to go to this one on the tour. I went to one of the earlier ones (Sayreville). I had the time of my life! Although David said that it was one of this favorites, the marked improvement in the performances is fascinating! David’s personality came out in this tour and yes, it’s plain to see that he’s a flirt. I saw the beginnings of it on American Idol last year but it’s more obvious now. Slowly but surely David is coming to own David Archuleta. How lucky you were to bump into David at the airport! I assume he was on his way to LA for the KCA? I haven’t finished reading this entire post but am replying now, and eager to see if you gave us any more tidbits. Welcome home!

  81. 82 beebee March 29, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Marlie! I love that Playing for Change SBM! I’d found that months ago (and play it fairly often!) and tried to get all that information and the vid to David. I’m glad you brought it up again. I really thought it would resonate with him on so many levels! I hope he does become aware of their campaign (and that wonderful vid!)

  82. 83 quiteblanc March 29, 2009 at 11:10 pm

    Silverfox –

I love your prayer and use the mug from nD days every morning. I had teary eyes when I read your prayer for his health during the tour. We are alike – worry too much. I bought two Del Mar tickets. I’ll try to convince my husband to come back from Geneva, Switzerland for David’s concert again! I am so excited that we will meet in June! When I close my eyes, I can still see you in the elevator.

Hmmm… Three months is too long.

  83. 84 marlie7 March 29, 2009 at 11:19 pm

Oh, I got my new avi. I was waiting for it for quite a while!

SF mentions going back to real life. I know that’s about being away, but it also resonates with me that the tour is over and we’ll be looking for any tidbit about David for a while. I’m sure there will be links to radio shows in Asia, but I’m really hoping we get videos from his performances in the UK.

After watching David grow from the somewhat shy and almost reserved performer in Virginia Beach to the mega-energy, explosive, audience-flirting, powerful voice in SLC, I can only imagine what he might do and become with another round of performances under his belt.

How lucky we are to watch this magical transformation.

  84. 85 freofan March 29, 2009 at 11:20 pm

We’ll get UK videos, I am sure of it. CHenson alone is going to four shows.

  85. 86 quiteblanc March 29, 2009 at 11:24 pm

    tawna21 –

Glad to hear your hubby got it too. David’s live concert is so intense, so we all feel exhausted afterward. It is hard to imagine someone won’t get it after a live concert. The criteria for giveaway of my SLC ticket – a male and non fan. Want to increase fanboy population.

ABRRA on 7:28 – if your are looking for good SLC #s on YOU CAN & DLG, you may want to check almostround9 or ShellyFOD for YOU CAN. I am uploading the mp3s to sendspace and will post the links in a while

For DLG, muldur99 or brett337’s versions are your best bet, altho brett’s version is more complete in the beginning.

Again they are all featured in our SLC Tour Page. Hope this helps.

tawna21…It was fun to have spent time with you, roo and her sister, knotlister and of course your husband at the pre concert dinner…which was so excellent with the the beautiful mountains in the background…

I thought that the…toasting the husbands…was probably quite necessary, after all they did not ask us to travel endlessly to watch an 18 year old beautiful girl and go on about her forever, never being able to take their eyes off of her!! I am not so sure that I would…;) Cheers to them!!!

I was so tired after the concert that when we got back to our room, I opened the door and headed straight to the bed…and then saw morning!!!

    Bye for now…

abrra434 – if you’re still looking/listening for quality audio, I thought the Pomona had a good DLG by TheDarkYear1, though no into; also YC by ShelleyFOD has intro & pretty good audio with minimal screaming near the end.

    oh, The E Center-

    Wow.

I just don’t know what to say.

    Thinking.

I think I’m still on a high from that show.

“in a sea of people…there was only you”

    And to you I say:
Thank you for a memory I will hold my whole life.

    Forever grateful,

    Alex blog…Sunday March 29, 2009

So…hey everyone. I don’t know what to say other than thank you so much for an incredible tour. SLC was beyond description. The whole band had a great time. And who wouldn’t have a great time in front of thousands of AMAZING screaming fans? You were all incredible. Before the show we had our pre show ritual, in which we all got a bit teary for the end of the first tour. Lots of tender moments with all of the band mates many more with the whole tour. The show started off with a bit of a longer intro to get the crowd pumped for the entrance. I couldn’t stay in one place. I had to jump around and feel the space of the stage. It was HUGE!!! The weirdest thing on playing that show was having another person on stage with us…the video guy. I had to figure out how to move without running into him. I think he was a bit afraid I would run into him. It was also a bit weird to look up, out of the corner of your eye, and see a giant picture of you smiling…like the jumbo-tron man! They threw in “Your Eyes Don’t Lie” just a bit before the show started and it was fun to see all of your reactions to us adding that song! Zero Gravity was ummm yeah, well received I guess you could say (haha, they freaked out over it). One thing that I don’t really talk about is that I really love making eye contact with as many people as I can during the concerts. I loved doing this at this show. So many people to see and smile at. I loved it! My whole family was there and they loved the show too. Everybody was excited to get back to their lives for a little bit. All of the fans created some real memories for everyone involved in the whole tour. You all did an amazing job of showing your support and love for ALL parties involved. From Johnny B up to David himself, we all got the royal treatment and we are all grateful for it! I fully plan on a regimented schedule of standing in front of the mirror practicing my dance moves each day. I also plan on getting back into exercise while home (an activity that is not to easy on a bus). Eli and I are planning on running 4 miles a day each day we are home. Please keep in touch and send me whatever pictures you have. I will post all the ones that I took. I will hopefully get the pictures from David that he took too. I totally love you all a ton.

Ronaldsf – great recap… and yes David is a bonafide flirt. I just don’t know how you managed to stay away from all the tour videos.

Abrra…thank you for all your hard work with that cd.

SF… thank you for your nightly prayer…it’s become part of my nightly routine.

Thank you all … thank you for this site… Did the intervention happen? My name is djafan and I’m an Archuholic.

I’m going to Del Mar!!!! I need my fix! Hubby doesn’t know yet, I’ll tell him later.

    Sorry for my nonsense… 🙂

Snarkies has the map of the UK tour up. So exciting, can’t wait and it will start in just 3 weeks! Meanwhile there is Asia and etc. You know, I always think it will slow down, after AI, after the tour, after the jingles, after the solo tour…not gonna happen, my friends. He is moving so fast we will have a hard time keeping up. And now, I shall test some emoticons. Because I have nothing to do and because I can.

Angelica…cute with the icons…I am up way too late, again…

It hasn’t been 24 hours since we have been home and already there are tickets on sale again for CA…no he is not going to slow down… ;()

  96. 97 sandybeaches2009 March 30, 2009 at 1:05 am

Where are you finding the emoticons?

  97. 98 gmalil4da March 30, 2009 at 1:07 am

    OMG… Silverfox!
Sam picked me and a fellow fan up at the airport at 4pm PDT. After dropping Nancy off in Encinitas, (very close to Del Mar… haha), Sam and I decided to have dinner before driving all the way home. While studying the menu (delicious East Indian food), I hear my cell phone ringing! Another fan-friend (nearby) who had flown home today, 4 hours before us, had found out about the Del Mar show! She told me to hurry and get home, log on to TM and get my tickets! But we had already ordered our dinner so we hurriedly ate. While there, I called “River”; she filled me in on more of the details about the Del Mar show. Thanks Mari!

As soon as we arrived home, I logged on… I know TM can be tricky! I did NOT accept the first ticket offered. About 15 minutes into the ‘search’ I was able to buy row 6, 11th seat from center, stage left.

Our local San Diego/Los Angeles (small) mailing group have already gotten tixs today as well! And we all just barely got home from SLC… what a trip… in more ways than one!

Then, much to my surprise, I see here that SF and sister Theresa are coming to San Diego for this show! Now, if only I could entice “River”. 😉

After feeling a little melancholy on the flight home, now I’m so elated!

Many have written about the SLC concert… there are not enough words (for me) to adequately express how special this concert was! To be able to witness the love between David and his fans is something that I won’t forget… ever!

  98. 99 djafan March 30, 2009 at 1:10 am

awestruck – like your point method…Melancholy… that seems to happen after a David experience until the next event gets you all excited, even if it’s through youtube videos or cough…some kids awards show..cough some more…lol.

Angelica…UK be ready for the Archulator! I have to learn those, the sad and the happy I know. Is there a chart or something somewhere?

    DLG by muldur99 – http://www.sendspace.com/file/0ofzb4

They are not scream-free but the gushings & spazzing are in the appropriate times.

    Hope this helps

RONALDSF dear you have been missed! And what a come back! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post and I hope to hear more from you. You have a lot of catching up to do, as you are much aware by now but our jD hosts have organized our e-home quite nicely — you can easily check David’s progression since Virginia. The master keeps getting better and better and there is no stopping him!

I get to see him next month! Can you believe that! I hope there will be no brawl or animosity among the fans of the 2 Davids. It’s gonna be hot here by the time they come and we will be on open grounds – am not thrilled. BUT who am I to complain when am gonna see David sooooooooooooooooon! GAH! Because of the stiff price of the tickets, I may have to do the video taping myself so am practicing as early as now haha!

Glad to hear from you again!

  100. 101 djafan March 30, 2009 at 1:17 am

gmalil4da – Are you familiar with the layout? I didn’t about the TM being tricky … I got floor4 row 4 seats 17-20. They sound good.

  101. 103 davidfanLIZ March 30, 2009 at 1:18 am

desertrat – I love you! Thanks for posting that link to the Del Mar show. I have my tix!

  102. 104 djafan March 30, 2009 at 1:22 am

Angelica – thanks…there is lots I still need to learn.

  103. 105 gmalil4da March 30, 2009 at 1:31 am

    djafan… those are great seats!
I got home (from SLC) after many of you already knew about the Del Mar show. So when I logged on (I have an account with TM), I was offered a ‘floor section’ seat in Section 2. I know I didn’t want those. Seats that are held for someonw are released by TM if that sale doesn’t go through. So I kept searching for more seats and then it offered me Section 3, row 6, seat 11. This was after one of my local friends bought row 7 an hour or so earlier. So my row 6 seat came back on the market, which I gratefully purchased! LOL

    That’s what I meant by ‘tricky’… 😉

  104. 106 djafan March 30, 2009 at 1:35 am

gmalil4da – thanks I’m glad. I’m new to this concert ticket buying, standing in moshpit environment for hours… but David made me do it….lol.

  105. 107 quiteblanc March 30, 2009 at 1:37 am

    gmalil4da –

I have Section 3, row 6, seats 12-13. Looking forward to meeting you.

  106. 108 gmalil4da March 30, 2009 at 1:44 am

djafan ~ David made me do it too! Three nights in a row, Tempe, Pomona and Reno… hours upon hours, but worth every second! If only my grandkids knew what their old grandma had done… they would be shocked beyond words!

    Quiteblanc ~ Great… see you there! 🙂

  107. 109 Angelica March 30, 2009 at 1:46 am

    From Alex’s blog:

“I fully plan on a regimented schedule of standing in front of the mirror practicing my dance moves each day.”

Hmmmm. Wonder if David has the same plan. 8)

gmalilfda – I was at Pomona too!

If only my grandkids knew what their old grandma had done… they would be shocked beyond words!

Mine know and they do wonder what’s happened to Grandma…lol

Sounds like many jD’rs will be there…hope to meet you all.

  109. 111 goboywonder March 30, 2009 at 2:02 am

Marlie7 at 11:11 am I’m curious which SLC video you sent your friend. I am planning on sending one to a friend and don’t know which to choose since the are all so good! Do I sent the tender side of David in SOT? Do I send uptempo David in ZG? It’s so hard to pick one! Thank you for the SBM video! My husband teaches music and I will most definitely show it to him. I’m sure he will want to show it to his students.

    To all of you SLCers, ronald, SF, sandybeaches, knotliser, awestruck and others: I feel for your emotions right now. It’s hard to be in euphoria one minute and then brought back down to reality. There is really no easy fix, no easy way to gently be let back down except to talk about it here with others who understand and share your emotions. {{{{Hugs}}}}

  111. 113 betsy March 30, 2009 at 2:08 am

    Ronald,
How surreal is it to fly to another state to see the finest singer on the planet? Be a part of the concert. And then run into him at the airport?
You must be exuding good karma.
    I love your post.

Here’s a little story I thought was pretty dang adorable.
I have Rascals SOT vid embedded on my facebook profile.
Tonight, when I got home from work, I logged on and noticed a comment on the vid. It was from my husband, who had watched the video earlier in the day when I was gone. He’s just learning facebook, but always leaves me little love notes or poems in my private inbox. Here is what he left me today after SOT:
“Beautiful song. He has a bright future. I know what you mean now”

  114. 117 bebereader March 30, 2009 at 2:24 am

Betsy….Awwww How beautiful. I’m referring to, of course, the note your husband left you about David. 😀

    *****

There are 14 shows in the UK and it seems that they are already selling out. According to Snarkies:
    “MANCHESTER IS SOLD OUT!

And in a couple of other venues, either standing or seated sections are sold out.”

No surprise, since David Archuleta is on his way there!

I’m a little too not over emoticons.
Never did this before and not real good at it!

  117. 120 peruu March 30, 2009 at 2:54 am

So, SLC was great and David was AWESOOMMME! He basically changed up every song a little bit, and everyone of them was so pleasing to the ears! Whenever he jumped, the crowd followed, with uncontrollable screams! It was such an extraordinarily electrifying experience! I wanted to bounce and jump too, but I could not, ’cause I had my camcorder in my hand!

I took a lot of video which I wanted to share. I did not stop recording in between songs, ’cause I know you guys love all the details! One of the footages was over 30 minutes long! Now, what do I do to share? I have not even posted to Youtube, ever! (staring at the floor, feeling ashamed). I watched some of my videos, they looked and sounded pretty good!

Knotliser, thanks again for picking up the tickets for me, and introducing me to other lovely jDers! And dinner with SB, Tawna, and Liser, and the hubbies, was most enjoyable. My sister had a great time too. Sitting next to SweetTaunda and Sis at the show was fun. And then to run into Gmaillil again in the next morning was such a treat. I am sure that I will see you all again, because of David. Where, I don’t know. But I know we will meet again. Such journey with David.

And then coming back to read all these cute and insightful posts, gets me ready for a busy work week.

I heard that it is not hard to post on youtube. I would try to experiment. But would my vids be too long?

I could not find the recent 20 min David’s interview from last Thursday or so, which everyone said was David’s best to-date. Any hints on where to find it?

  118. 121 peruu March 30, 2009 at 3:01 am

Oh, I forgot to say, I almost died when David said he was going to sing “Your Eyes Don’t Lie.” I probably let out a little “Yey” into the camera. I loved his whistling! I could see his face and his expression clearly in the big screen. His own eyes don’t lie. He’s totally loving it!

  119. 122 ronaldsf March 30, 2009 at 4:03 am

Just dropping in to give a little “Howdy!” to folks. Thanks for all the responses to the article, too!

Jackryan, I’ve missed you and everybody else also! I just have had to put David off for a while because he’s just so dang speshul that he sucks me in and I’m a goner. I found it very hard to balance things and knew I had to take a break.

Already, I’ve been “sucked in” a bit since SLC and have been watching some of the tour videos! But alas, I really can’t go through all of them.

And it’s so exciting that he’s going to Manila! I really would think that he’d have a HUGE number of fans out there! I would love to get your report!

Bebe, yes, David’s flight WAS headed to LA, so yeah he was going to KCA.

Tawna21, thanks… but wow so it looks like you had drama too with your seat. How rude of them! So you must have been near the front I gather?

My neighbors and I tried to persuade the stage crew to move the offending speaker. (One of my neighbors had her birthday that day, too!) But the guy said gruffly, “That speaker’s EXACTLY where it needs to be.”

And of course I’m thinking to myself I get to be the one with the crappy luck. I come all this way from San Francisco, and now I don’t even get to see David.

    And then I see David!

Give me a crappy seat any day – I’ll take it!!

  120. 123 jackryan4da March 30, 2009 at 4:27 am

BETSY @ 2:16 — your hubby is special. I went weak and weepy after reading your story. More men should learn from him – and am not referring to him getting David now… It suddenly made we wonder whether I will ever be blessed again to find someone special …

ronaldsf – great post; glad you could take a break and give us your SLC experience through your eyes – a joy to read! My oldest daughter was submerged her whole 3L year and I am extremely impressed that you could make the trip!

awestruck – read your review on the last post—beautiful. What a trip for you and VBH! All the way from Canada…I am so happy you were able to see a live performance.

SB – loved your review too! Sounds like a quick trip from east coast of Canada to almost west coast of US and back. Whew!

SF – What can I say? You rock lady!!

tawna – bad seats too! Oh, no. I had 10 under 12 year olds sitting next to me without parental supervision and I was on the end seat…lets just say I experienced a parade of young ladies throughout the evening–I forgot how hard it is to sit at that age.

knotliser – Close encounter with SF. Loved your story.

miked – Hey! Great seats and the same for Del Mar…you live right!

peruu – OMG, you were there too! Can’t wait for your videos. You recorded the whole concert – I was wondering if Jive/Azoff had done that too b/c of the various shots they projected on the big screen – wouldn’t that be a great iTunes bonus if they release his debut album with live footage of SLC. Can’t wait to see your videos.

quiteblanc – your hubby came from Switzerland!! WOW!

gmalil4da – you already have tickets for the next concert in your neck of the woods and great seats to boot! I am so excited for you and hubby!

Sounds like a fanvention may be in the cards for Del Mar…fairgrounds, San Diego, the Pacific…sounds like a party shaping up!

…so next Asia promo, then UK, then…..??!!…I don’t know and have stopped trying to imagine cause that young man keeps exceeding my expectations and SO the future is VeRy exciting in the David fan world, no?!! 🙂

  127. 130 sandybeaches2009 March 30, 2009 at 11:00 am

desert…Wow…what a story…it almost scares me just how much of an impact that David has on people…we only know a portion of what his life will mean to others who are so less fortunate…

  128. 131 sandybeaches2009 March 30, 2009 at 11:09 am

peruu…I believe that I had your username incorrect but have it now!! ‘Your Eyes Don’t lie”…what a guy! I didn’t know that he was the whistler in the song…never saw a video before…How does one have a huge smile and whistle at the same time? He almost ran out of whistle at the end and of course had a little laugh at himself…

Oh boy, I was on ticketmaster looking at Del Mar but I had to come to reality and know that I will have to wait until he is in Canada or eastern US…what a temptation…

    Work calls darn it…

Ronaldsf, love your recount.. Kumusta from one of your kababayan from Down under.

JR, that video from snarkies is really the best way to start the day. it is a teaser, hope they (snarkie archies) will release it soon….

You know what, I am now changing my “day”. Sleeping early so I can wake up early morning (IT IS NOW 5:06 AM HERE) to catch up with people rather than spamming myself. Will see if I survive the day .

Djfan , like boy and girl scouts we should always be prepared. A ready made game/questions and ready fully-charged video when ever one goes to a David concert or meet or greet in case ahould always be on hand. You might get lucky (like SF, Ronaldsf) to see David. A jD shoot out would be lovely.

We should start compiling some “intelligent” questions and not the usual” do you GF, Crushes, favourite singer, favourite food,,, we don’t want David saying,,,,”I have said that already”. Some interesting or thought provoking questions…..

I am now sleepy again….. but before that, Utah’s SOT at the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RGF7X9CS5Y…..please listen and tell me ……..to die for just one last line like reno’s WFM…..

then …..cheers from the crowd 😉
    yes David, those green eyes…

Baby, you’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of ( something new again????) 😆

Everything was just a lie and I know, yes, I know 😮
    Pause and cheers and screams

    My first love, YOU CAN

    Hey Vee,

Your welcome. Nice to see you here during the day. Usually things are a lot more active at this time, but I guess everyone is exhausted from the weekend of SLC and trying to get stuff done offline. My job has saddled me with a particularly nasty piece of work this Monday. 😈 Still, it’s good to be alive in the Archuleta Age. 😀

    The Snarkies video

OMG! That face, that voice! He is doing that “charming” thing on those girls like he did with Kathy Griffin. He looks at them with “eye lock” after he asks them if they know a song.
Thank you for the suggestions for the Tour Cd. I made one up and mailed it to Dawn65. I wanted her opinion of the selections before I declare it DONE. 🙂

    doesn’t he always ?

just leaving the office.. horrible monday…. need my fix when I get home…

  141. 144 river992 March 30, 2009 at 5:25 pm

Just a quick aside relating to those posts about Cook recently. He was on the phone with Ryan Seacrest this morning, syndicated but via Z100 NYC. He said nothing about cancelling shows but did basically retract the stern words about his fans. He did not mean to sound so harsh and yes he totally appreciates those who got him where he is. It seems there were pushy incidents involving his band and it was unnerving. He didn’t expect the big spin that the remarks got. Anyhoo, for the few that were interested, that’s what he said.

  142. 145 renaid March 30, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Awestruck, I just got a chance to read your recap from SLC. So moving…I’m really happy for you that you had such a good time and that VBH was with you. So sweet that he woke with YouCan playing in his head. I am all teary after reading your post.

River, thanks for your post. I’m glad to know that there was nothing serious keeping David Cook from his concerts. Not a fan but still….

  143. 146 djafan March 30, 2009 at 5:45 pm

dawn65 -“He is doing that “charming” thing on those girls ”

Hi is so good at it, the eyes, even playing the game, his whole body sings.

This reminds of the interview with Showbiz Shelly from the jingle ball things.

He has totally charmed me…. can’t wait for the rest of the interview.

    Sorry about work. 😦

vee60 – We should start compiling some “intelligent” questions and not the usual” do you GF, Crushes, favourite singer, favourite food,,, we don’t want David saying,,,,”I have said that already”. Some interesting or thought provoking questions…..

    Just say when…. sweet dreams.

Abrra – wondering ….did you include Running? He only performed it once. Thanks for doing this. I suggest that we not only send the postage, but also the cost of the bland cd’s, only fair, IMHO. 🙂

  144. 147 Angelica March 30, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Just got home and finally able to watch the Snarky interview.

When they asked him to think of a song when a word was given him, he answered:

“The part of my brain that thinks about that stuff is not the thinking part…it’s the part that’s not really thinking.”

Can anyone listen to him speak those words and not know what a genuine artist he is? He is so young and yet has such a profound insight into the workings of his own elegant, inventive mind.

I love him beyond all reason. He just expands my heart, my mind, my emotions, my whole world.

  145. 148 djafan March 30, 2009 at 6:00 pm

Angelica – I love him beyond all reason. He just expands my heart, my mind, my emotions, my whole world.

So do I… I’ve watched this about 50 times now…. He is so….different, special, unique, unreal… he makes my heart hurt.

    Re the Vlog-

I just gushed over what an artist he is and now he proves it again by being fascinated with the tactile sensual aspects and color of slime. He’s just loving the feel of it, and “It’s so green.” I love him.

  150. 153 betsy March 30, 2009 at 7:03 pm

    Angelica ~ Ditto!

    Especially that last bit.

  151. 154 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 7:21 pm

I hope he’s home getting some sleep. He was completely wired at KCA.. he had me about ready to pee my pants. He was hyper.. and funny..

Angelica… yes.. I caught that with the part of his brain.. I was so proud of him.. he “gets” it.

I wonder if he’s got it down to the lobes of the brain.. LOL.

He’s such a big star now.

Replaying some of his earlier interviews.. makes me think his voice is changing again.. or is it just me ?

His speaking voice seems to be going down a few tones.

Did you all see the video of him mimicking the screaming JB?

    He SO needs sleep…

He’s like everyone else.. the more tired he gets.. the sillier he gets.

David on the orange carpet.. uninhibited. SO glad he doesn’t watch himself.. LOL.

If he ever starts..we may not see that side of him anymore.

  152. 155 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 7:28 pm

    LOL… David rapping ..

sorry if this is a repost.. I’m just now coming back to life.

  153. 156 Angelica March 30, 2009 at 7:39 pm

    dawn65,

Oh my stars and drawers, he was so funny in LA. After the emotional ride of the final show and then being up all night. lol! He was talking over Paula and mimicking fangirls screams! Then he went to play with slime and oooooh…it’s so fascinating! Yes, he was sleep deprived and on a bit of sensory overload but…such a treasure. Did I mention that I love him?

  154. 157 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 7:49 pm

Angelica.. I told my sister to youtube him … specifically the KCA stuff.. it was like David on speed.

Although he did mention how much he like hanging with kids his own age.. I can’t figure out if he meant Jeanette.. or the kids in the audience..who seemed to be in the 10 – 12 range.. he puzzled me there..and hurt my feelings. He can’t come over anymore.. LOL.

No seriously.. when I was talking to my sister tonight.. I told her that I think Mariah thinks David is a part of the family. For as long as I’ve suffered my ODD…she’s exposed to him everyday.

During dinner sometimes, the slideshow screensaver comes up on the desktop and she can see it from the table…she names off everyone she sees.. including David. I think one time she referred to him as Tio David.. LOL.

When she gets older…I’ll have to explain it to her. But for now.. she has Tio Justin, Tio Evan, Tio Mico and Tio David… LOL !!!!

    Re: The empanada incident

Did anyone else notice that woman in the background shouting “Don’t make him eat anything he doesn’t want to. He’s trying to stay healthy. Don’t eat it!”
    Who was that?!

dawn ~ Tio David! I love that!

  156. 159 JONER March 30, 2009 at 7:59 pm

David is just the coolest human being I’ve ever seen. He just finished his first extremely successful solo tour and yet he seems so normal just playing with slime backstage and thanking everybody for showing up for his concerts. I heard he even offered some fans part of his hummus sandwich in the parking lot after the show!

He never sees himself as a special gift to us…to him, WE are the gift! I get teary-eyed just thinking about that.

And regarding River’s post about Cook; I say this with no disrespect for Mr. Cook, but I honestly believe that our David is more equipped to deal with the pressures of this business. He seems very centered by “something”. Whether it is his faith, his family or simply his disposition is not clear, it’s probably a combination of all three, but that is why he is such an enigma and inspiration to us!

I’m confessing, he totally fascinates me.

  157. 160 djafan March 30, 2009 at 8:05 pm

    Betsy – Who was that?!

I also wondered who that was…. but he stuffed the whole thing in his mouth.

Joner – And regarding River’s post about Cook; I say this with no disrespect for Mr. Cook, but I honestly believe that our David is more equipped to deal with the pressures of this business. I totally agree with you Joner. I don’t know…something about Cook from the beginning never clicked with me. I know David says nothing but positive things about him, I tend to agree with something someone said before, David’s influence on Cook is very apparent when they’re together, it makes Cook a better person.

Like I said earlier he makes my heart hurt. 🙂

  158. 161 betsy March 30, 2009 at 8:09 pm

DJA ~ Yes, he acted as if he didn’t hear the “Don’t eat it” shouts coming from the peanut gallery. I’ve learned to never try to separate a man from his food! He was HUNGRY!

  159. 162 djafan March 30, 2009 at 8:11 pm

    betsy- He was HUNGRY!

He sure was! Kendra had him eating bell peppers, almonds, apple butter on celery…I was getting worried, he’s a growing MAN, he needs carbs and protein…lol.

Hey, I think that we have turned into lurkers, hoping to find cheery words, exciting news or any news, familiar posters…some way to get back up…I am trying though…I gave to charity, put plenty of change into the SPCA can today…I am trying…oh, by the way,get your piggy banks out and start saving for the next big tour…be ready…nothing like finale night/weekend…

  161. 164 JONER March 30, 2009 at 8:23 pm

    Awwww….Chikezie loves David!

  162. 165 sandybeaches2009 March 30, 2009 at 8:26 pm

He sure was! Kendra had him eating bell peppers, almonds, apple butter on celery…I was getting worried, he’s a growing MAN, he needs carbs and protein…lol.

The energy that he was expending every night on tour is mind boggling. Almonds just don’t cut it! He does look trimmer!
Probably has quite the six-pack by now. Not that we’ll ever know!

  164. 167 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 8:35 pm

yeah.. I was thinking the same thing with him giving up dairy. He’s still growing for crying out loud. I hope at least she had him supplementing with Calcium.

Sometimes he seems larger than life…but then on Good Day Utah…sitting in the chair next to Mike while he sang You Can.. he appeared tiny and frail to me.

I swear.. he is so multidimensional.. he’s barely recognizable from one photo to the next.

I mean…you know it’s HIM…but he CHANGES.. dramatically. It’s like he has a different persona that he dons for each situation. Mask and all.

Fascinates…mesmorizes..hypnotizes.. is there NO END IN SIGHT TO THIS ODD ?!!!!!!!!!

I can’t stand it… there’s some days when I find myself asking him please to get out of my head.

I’m beginning to think there’s something horribly wrong with me.

  165. 168 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 8:38 pm

Sandybeaches.. I felt down and sad when I didn’t know if I’d see him again…but already.. the California thing was announced..that totally flipped me around.

Of course we’ll be seeing him…over and over and over and over. I think it’s the first time in a long time I’ve appreciated where I actually live. Probably since 911 actually.

I do wonder if he’ll be laying low until he takes flight to Asia.

  166. 169 JONER March 30, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Dawn65 – I bet he spends some time in the recording studio laying down some new tracks for his new CDs (Xmas or otherwise).

  167. 170 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 8:53 pm

JONER.. .that boy has entirely TOO much energy if that’s the case. He’s gonna burn himself out. But I bet he’s itching to try out some new stuff. ZG got such a great reception..I’m willing to bet he wants to try out more like that.

  168. 171 JONER March 30, 2009 at 8:56 pm

Betsy – I think David is going to grow a couple inches taller during the next year or so. I think his hands and feet got a head start! David is a late bloomer in alot of different ways. It’s actually neat (do people actually say “neat” anymore???) to watch his transition. He’ll probably get a humongous and lucrative offer from Gilette to do razor commericals when he pops those first whiskers!

  169. 172 betsy March 30, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Archidorable McArchipants David Archuleta, fresh off the U.S. leg of his tour, accepted the Favorite Reality Show award on behalf of American Idol along with Paula Abdul, who OF COURSE interrupted him AND scared the crap out of me in what looked like costume castaways from a performance of “Disturbia.” (Seriously, what WAS that?)

Guys, the person telling him not to eat the empanada was Gengen…the lady who was filming the show on her camera. She wasn’t filming to the computer but filming with her camera in front of the TV. haha! She wasn’t even IN the studio so he couldn’t hear her. haha!

  174. 177 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 9:20 pm

well see juliebug…that makes me feel slightly better. At least I’m not the only one talking to him through the TV, through the PC.

I clap..like he can hear me..

when he was naming a few of his favorite shows.. I was saying..David..say Sayerville..say Sayerville.. and then he SAID it.. I was total FANGIRL.. and I said..SEE.. I KNEW you loved it.

Running is on it. I tried to follow Dawn65’s snapshot of his setlist. Then things got interesting! As the shows progressed, the setlist changed to less songs. In the end, I sandwiched in:
    Running
    Como LA Flor
    YEDL
There are 17 tracks in all. I tried to get the most unique performances and still maintain the “less screaming” standard.

I am very interested in the “why” of David Cook’s current situation. I watched his performance of “Permanent” when he stopped singing and broke down in tears. The lights went out for a few minutes as he collected himself. He did go on to the next song , eventually. Then on another video I watch him announce the cancellation of 4 days of the tour. I saw a lot in those 2 videos.
He loves his brother so profoundly. I saw someone who is in a position to be on top of the world, but can’t integrate the emotional side of being famous. Wasn’t is Adam who was going to try out for Idol? David may feel like he has taken Adam’s place ( as the song says he would, if he could in the hospital bed) in the spotlight. i think you can see where I am going? I admire Cook and it has to be bittersweet to have his success.

Just lurked on & off today, trying to get back to as normal a life as I can, but David creeps into my thoughts almost every minute. It doesn’t help matters when I listen to him almost constantly. It doesn’t help when I can’t stay off the net surfing for anything new about David. It doesn’t help when we have a new concert date and I HAD to make plans to go across the U.S. to see David again. It’s like we are really hypnotized. I am not kidding! There is something going on here beyond our control. We are all so out of our minds caught up in this adoration of David that I am wondering what life was like BEFORE David? I honestly can not imagine my life without David in it. What is even more baffling is that he has absolutely no idea that there are now millions of fans going through this, what I just described. How would he react if he knew? Would he even believe it? This is cra-zeh! Then I saw this video…

and I’m can’t even breathe as I’m lost in the magic of The Voice, and I understand that I am where I want to be at this time in my life, I want to be in David’s universe. He makes me happy.

  190. 193 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Good night everyone! And for David, for all the love he gives and for being just David…

This is one of the things that soo amazes me about David, he seems like completely different people at times. I have to remind myself that the David who sang Imagine is the same person that is in the “Life Story” & “Square” magazines (several different looks)and also dancing and Archustomping on the stage during tour. Sometimes it totally freaks me out. Even the David on his cd looks so different from the other Davids. Will the real David Achuleta please stand up! But of course, they are all parts of the sum of being justDavid.

I was just watching him on the Orange Carpet again.. LOL.. it gets funnier every time I watch it.

SO hilarious… they had a Grand Old Time.

    LOL.. he was SO funny.

David ” I’m sorry.. I make things awkward”.

It’s too funny… I’m going to watch it again… LOL

I think David is an old soul in a young body.

dawn – Dear Dr… I’m obssessed with an 18 year old boy….while he excuses himself to get a glass of water.. he’s contacting child protective services.

Correction, 18 year old MAN, he can’t contact child protective services, he’s an adult. I need to repeat this to myself daily…lol.

dawn – well see juliebug…that makes me feel slightly better. At least I’m not the only one talking to him through the TV, through the PC.

You have me in stitches…lol…secret…I do too.

Abrra – Thank you, Running has always been one of my favorites. Greatly appreciated 

Silverfox – We are all so out of our minds caught up in this adoration of David that I am wondering what life was like BEFORE David?

This is the hardest part for me. I try so hard to do all the things I was doing before David and I go full circle back to David. I don’t know how.

I purchased tickets to Del Mar and I haven’t told hubby yet, I mean he’ll be ok with it…couldn’t help myself. This video I watch at least once a week, it’s become a ritual for my crying sessions.

dawn65 – I’m getting so excited. I listen to David’s CD all the time, but since tour all the songs he’s performed have a new meaning. Cousin’s name, now that’s a coincidence.

  202. 205 bebereader March 30, 2009 at 11:21 pm

Abbra I’d love to have a copy of the CD or DVD that you and Dawn are creating. Please let me know if this is possible and if so, how much $ to send. Thank you.

Dawn… You’re not alone in your ODD. You have a wonderful way of expressing yourself that makes it so easy for us to relate to and say “Yes, that’s how I feel, too!” You don’t need therapy, Dawn. We’re your therapy. Anyway, what would you tell the therapist? “Hey Doc I’m here because I’m so happy!!!” So thank you for being so vocal in your thoughts because it helps those of us tho can’t express ourselves as well as you can.

It really helps to be here as often as I can because I feel comforted that I’m not going over the deep end with my ODD. At any given moment during the day either I crave to hear the sound of David’s voice or crave a certain song, or a particular verse or line. I go out of my way to satisfy the craving. (At the moment, for example, I’m dying to hear David sing the line “I’m coming to save the day.”…getting my ITunes geared up….)

I just clicked on SF’s link to AI TOUR SLC WYSYLM. That song does me in every time. I just posted something in the comments

“Nobody can compare to David Archuleta. His voice and spirit touch a part of our souls that until this time was unreachable.”

    Ain’t that the cha-ruth!

  203. 206 Angelica March 30, 2009 at 11:23 pm

    goboywonder,

“they are all parts of the sum of being justDavid.”

And the sum is much greater than the parts. justDavid is such an understatement and yet so fitting because all he claims or tries to be is just David. The irony is, if he tried to be anything more, he would be less. There’s a lesson in that for us all, I think. Yes, he is an old soul in a young body. Maybe that’s how he can look older sometimes when he sings and the spirit within takes control.

I have the file, now all I need is Dawn’s covers. She can mail them to me when she has them done. I will gather supplies and then make a few up. Then the BIG announcement! LOL

abrra, I don’t know why David’s peeps didn’t, as far as I know, put a tour dvd together, but I will glady pay for one that you and dawn are putting together.

Gee, it’s only been a couple of days since the end of the tour and I feel like it’s been a month already with no David news.

    Didn’t see this posted

Nickelodeon’s 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards is Biggest Ever!

Eventually TPTB will realize that it’s the David Archuleta Effect. Just say he will be here or there and his fans flock/fly/descend (what do angels do?), show support to him.

  206. 209 Angelica March 30, 2009 at 11:39 pm

    Abrra,

That CD looks killer! {{{{gimmiehands}}}} The bluesy WFM, gaaah, you got that one? is from Reno. I am addicted to it. I will pay whatever you demand. After hearing the enhanced version of David on this solo tour, I have a hard time, as others have said, listening to the studio produced CD. The flow of energy and love between him and the audience is so real and you can hear and even feel it.

This is only an audio CD. It is mp3’s of Youtube that I ripped audio from. It’s nothing grand, just something where we can have a copy of the tour songs all on one CD. There is typical venue screaming( not too much) and a few places the banter is cut short. Overall it’s the best I could find from the Tour Reflections.

I’VE LOST IT!!! I can’t find the link to the Orange Carpet dealy thing with David–not the right girl interview–the one where he is such a goof. Pleeeasse hep me here.

Even so, it will be the next best thing until whatever we get next possibly of David’s Asia and Uk promo/tour, until Del Mar. I might as well admit it I’m addicted to love–David that is.

bebereader.. awww.. gosh.. thanks for making me feel like I’m okay. It’s Angelica.. she pushes me over the safety edge.. LOL.. but I still love her.

dja.. MAN.. I can’t wrap my mind around that.. it doesn’t help with him playing with slime.. it don’t WORK FOR ME !!! LOL

  212. 215 dawn65 March 30, 2009 at 11:59 pm

Well see..opposites attract.. Angelica and goboywonder both said “Yes, he is an old soul in a young body.”…

And I’m exactly the opposite.. I’m a young soul trapped in an old body..

So he CAN be my boyfriend after all.

LOL.. dangit.. see..it’s Angelica.. she makes me do it.

dawn and angelica ~ you make me laugh!
I love every minute of that orange carpet clip. I have watched several times and am now dissecting it.
I am hanging out over the ledge and do not care.

Today was my day off and 90% of it was spent in Davidsville. It’s worse than ever. How did he accomplish that?

  221. 226 dawn65 March 31, 2009 at 12:37 am

I’m totally impressed with my label making now… LOL.

It almost tops the DVD I made a few nights ago.. don’t get excited.. it’s mostly the AI Xfactor stuff.. the 2 ZG stacked..and ATM from Williamsville off my camera.

But it came out SO cool.. I have transitions.. Works For Me as the background.. and cool pictures loaded on the selection screens.

THIS is a first for me. David’s bringing out the techie in me.. I just love him.. maybe he can come over afterall.

  222. 227 goboywonder March 31, 2009 at 12:38 am

marlie7, awww, that one always gets me too. Others that seem to always get me are: of When You Believet(studio verison), Smokey Mountain Memories (espeically the intro), and The Most Beautiful Part About This–every time.

  223. 228 juliebug March 31, 2009 at 12:42 am

Did you guys happen to watch Inside Edition tonight? David was on in a little snippet being interviewed on the orange carpet…during an overview of the event.

It showed him being interviewed as Chris Rock and his family walked by. Chris interrupted the interview by tapping him on the shoulder. I couldn’t hear what he said to David (I THINK he said “I watch you every day.) but David turned around and said “Oh! Hey! Thanks! Thank you!”. They shook hands and Chris nodded to him. The host said, “American Idol runner up David Archuleta stopped by for a chat but was interrupted by comedian Chris Rock, a big fan.”

  224. 229 dawn65 March 31, 2009 at 12:43 am

WOW.. I missed that..but it will probably turn up on Ytube..as all things David do.

Chris Rock loves the David huh ? COOL.

  225. 230 dawn65 March 31, 2009 at 12:46 am

I so wish they’d stop referring to him as the AI runner up though..

betsy.. I’m glad I can make you laugh.. I’ll be sure to note that to my therapist .. 8)

I don’t know.. sometimes I’m afraid to really say what I wanna say.. but that’s another discussion 8)

where’s Angelica when I need her dangit.

I don’t know how I feel about that.

To have ODD is to live on the edge. Face it. We have only himself to blame. His gorgeous, mesmerizing, soul embracing self.

You know, it is possible to be too attractive. (pepe lepew) 😉

  232. 237 dawn65 March 31, 2009 at 12:59 am

I’m feeling the same as I’m sure many others are, too. When I hear the songs in my head now, I no longer hear the CD version. All those songs have now been replaced by the live version which are richer in every way.

Re: playing with the slime. David is 18; he likes slime. He likes being around kids his own age. Nah, what am I saying? He’ll probably always want to run his hands through slime. He really seemed to enjoy himself and that’s good!

I agree with whoever said that he seems so different each time we see him and that it’s hard to recognize that it’s the same person. Been thinking about that and I’ve come to the conclusion (work with me on this, please) that as David becomes more comfortable both with being a public figure and speaking in public, he will reveal sides to himself that before now were locked inside. Sort of like how you loosen up when you get to know someone. What do you think? Or like peeling an onion? LOL

The mother in me should be kicked because I like David with no sleep! Okay, start throwing the tomatoes now. LOL

    3. Works For Me
    4. Touch My Hand
    5. Zero Gravity
    6. A Little Too Not Over You

    8. Don’t Let Go

    ENJOY!!!!

dja.. I only know how to rotate a video in moviemaker..but converting back and forth gets tedious. Not that techie yet.

Angelica.. I’m feeling ya.. I never understood Amy from SA until recently.. and there’s days when that fine line is unevenly balanced.. he aggravates me for invading my thoughts.. it’s like..dude..get out…just for a HOT second okay?

Abrra..I’ll pick up supplies on the way home from work tomorrow to start printing labels.

betsy.. holding back.. ah… yeah. Of all the warm fuzziness he gives me.. I have to admit that the bigger issue is he unnerves me. Everthing that I thought made sense.. doesn’t anymore. I’m a fairly logical thinking person. Or at least I became that way as I got older.

he’s opened up some dormant things in me…stuff I used to do when I was younger but lost the passion.. and now.. he’s breathed new life into it. so who knows….maybe someday he’ll sing something I wrote.

ANW, I hope you are a happy camper ABRRA, now that you have the MEGAMIX — it is pretty cool actually!

he is freaking smart as a whip.

this is really a rare side to see..

    seriously.. I’m blown away.

I’m speechless… when we think we know him… he is, I can’t think of a word to describe what I’m feeling…got to watch again…it’ll come to me.

Angelica – he’s opened up some dormant things in me…stuff I used to do when I was younger but lost the passion.. and now.. he’s breathed new life into it. so who knows….maybe someday he’ll sing something I wrote.

You took my feelings and put them into words. I married at a very, very young age and lost myself in life. David woke that passionate person I was, music was a very important part of my youth. At first it scared the heck out of me ….didn’t know what to do with all those emotions. Now I’m going with it, taking it a day at a time. I don’t understand why no one in over 30 years was able to do what David did in one moment and hasn’t stopped yet. Maybe this is a key to the why… something to think about. I haven’t started writing again…well maybe joining this site is a start….

SF1024 – you may not read this but just had to….. I spent the whole day doing yardwork. Although I had a playlist on my ipod with AOL, CD & other downloads, I became fixated on WYSYLM (the one rascal put on noting david during AI tour). Kept pushing the arrow on the left to repeat & finally just set it on repeat. Must have listened to it about 70 times (15/hr @ 4 1/2hrs). Used to repeat it last summer before his CD came out. Although I’ve yet to hear him live, this download sounds sooooo good. Couldn’t believe anyone could sound that good. Like you said last night……

    “Time has come again
And love is in the wind
Like some music in a dream
You made them all come true
When you came inside of my life
Now I’m lost inside of you
Lost in the music and lost in your eyes
I could spend all of my time
    Hearing songs you sing
    Feeling love you bring
    Darling being close to you
Made all my dreams come true
When you came inside my life
Now I’m lost inside of you”

    Me, too……………..

desertrat – thanks SO MUCH for the 6/20 SD concert news – got my ticket!!!! Geesh, this ***is*** ridiculous….

I’m with you SF, we are hypnotized and there is DEFINITELY “something going on here beyond our control”!!! Life before David? One dimensional at best. And now? Into dimensions we never even suspected were there.

dawn – “And I’m exactly the opposite.. I’m a young soul trapped in an old body.” Whoo-hoo-whooting belly laughs on that one!!! Me too, me too!! Fact, I think I’ve got an 18-yr old trapped in mine!! lol

Ahhhh, it’s good to be back here. Love all the house guests, but my jD time has been severely limited… it took all night to catch up with the last 3 days worth. Too many great posts to comment on. But this for sure–kudos ronaldsf for the post! And your steely self-discipline is impressive–but you’ve been gone too long!

omg, the SLC withdrawal symptoms are palpable. I feel for you all! Honestly, I feel your pain.
