End of Tour Blues

Since we first heard the rumblings of a solo tour, we have wondered what a David Archuleta tour would be. We worried about the type of venue. We pondered whether said venues would be suitable for our burgeoning star. We fretted over mosh pits. Questioned whether to mosh or not to mosh. Whether to throw caution to the wind and fly cross country to see one more show.

Once the tour started, we wondered whether the critics would be fair. We wondered whether he would be able to endure such a whirlwind tour, his first solo tour ever. Most of all we probably wished, wondered, prayed whether ‘they’ would love him like we do.

So now we know (vicariously for many) it is better to mosh, than never to have moshed at all. We know that this young man is a force, and although he may be compact in stature, he is strong, vital, and equipped to meet all challenges. We know that the stage is where his magic is made. We know the critics can’t help but tip their collective hat, and give a nod to him because he is the real deal.

Some of us are actually having a little separation anxiety. Our beloved is about to show the world (well at least parts of Asia and the U.K.) what we already know: that David Archuleta is a multi-faceted, once in a lifetime, extraordinary talent. So fans in Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, hang on to your seats. Watch out McFly fans. You are about to be amazed.

We’ve come so far as a fan base. Although we still angst and fret, there is also a feeling of certainty in the air. We know that he won’t be denied. Any worries of Disneyfication, or Montanization dissipate with every strut, every flex, and every beam of that megawatt smile.

Every time he steps on that stage with the growing confidence far exceeding our wildest expectations, we are renewed. We forget all of the worry, the fretting, maybe even a little of the fear. If David had any of the same pre-tour apprehension that we did, it must be gone by now.

His solo tour was sold-out success, with fans traveling from literally around the world to see him. The love he poured out on stage was matched and magnified by the adoring crowds.

So now what? What do we do until he graces that stage again? Until he takes Asia and the U.K. by storm? I say we sip a little Angels Tonic. Follow it with a Barriers Chaser. If that is not enough, I would prescribe a Zero Gravity Mojito. After that I would suggest we just catch our collective breath and exhale. Then we strap ourselves in again, this ride has just begun.

brooklyndawn – well said girl! Just had my Somebody Out There Riesling.
Based on where he has already taken us, the future is exciting indeed!

  2. 2 beebee April 3, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Cheers! Brooklyndawn! I’ll have a little WFM MerryGoRound Chaser! A beautiful post.

Great article brooklyndawn! This is the lull between the storm of shows and a good moment for reflection. I have to laugh a bit at how we all fret and stew (myself included). When has he ever failed us or ceased to amaze?

  4. 4 silverfox April 3, 2009 at 10:30 pm

Brooklyndawn..Actually, I am having a glass of wine and I’m raising it in a toast to you and your post! What a ride it’s been so far!

I brought my comment from the last post cuz I included one of David’s best performances which was very early in his tour. This one was absolutely stunning to watch. I was thinking “Who are you and where have you been hiding, and what did you do with OUR David??”

Here’s the link to what I think is the David’s best performance of DLG in Sayreville..soulful, pleading, almost painful to watch, cuz he is so into it!

I just watched part 2 of The Interview and there WAS a fleeting “look” when Buble name was mentioned, but it could have been simply that he was caught off guard cuz Buble is SO FAR from where David is going with his music right now. I think they could have chosen another artist to add to the mix. Someone who is “different from David” like Springsteen for example, or Timberlake, but not as different as Buble’. I wonder what David thinks of Bruce & Justin cuz they are so huge, or artists like Prince. We know he loves Michael Jackson’s music & performances. It’s just me that’s curious, that’s all.

The thing that really intrigued me about this interview is David’s ability to multitask..He seemed to be reading & texting for a good part of the time, which must have been very distracting to the Snarks. But still answered the questions with thoughtful intelligence. And he thinks he’s not cool?? He is cooler than the coolest, hippest 18 year old I have EVER seen.

Brava, brooklyndawn! Sign me up for a You Can-teloupe Martini!

  6. 6 valbraz April 3, 2009 at 10:35 pm

No anxiety here, Brooklyn! I took the evening to rewatch some Duluth videos- WFY, ZG and My Hands are in my drink! I’m looking forward to hearing from David and his fans in Asia. I’m psyched and have nothing but the most optmistic expectations. No concerts in the horizon for me – all I have is my cd and the YouTube videos, but that’s a lot more than I had a year ago.

  7. 7 river992 April 3, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Well to fill in some time til an update bulletin shows up, I booked a flight from NYC to San Diego for the June 20 concert. I suppose there are those who might think that mad, but certainly no one on this list. At least it feels proactive. I’m excited already and it’s weeks away. Miles to go etc etc. And now back to the glass of wine accompanied by lots of Youtube.

  8. 8 davidfanLIZ April 3, 2009 at 10:40 pm

river992 – No one here will think you mad haha! I’ll be in San Diego too. Isn’t it sweet to have a date on your calendar?

  9. 9 silverfox April 3, 2009 at 10:42 pm

river, My sis & I will see you there! And this is just the first summer concert series that’s been announced so far. There will be more…I’m just wondering where. I think there may be one in the far northwest like Seattle or Portland, Colorado, Florida and Canada for sure. It’s going to be a great summer and fall. We will NEVER get enough or too much of David!

  10. 10 river992 April 3, 2009 at 10:42 pm

oh yeah… I think the Fair will offer a great chance for a get together before the concert. and then there is the possibility of a summer tour. I think my life just got put on hold.

  11. 11 TOfan April 3, 2009 at 10:44 pm

SF, thanks for reposting djb’s Sayerville vid. One of my favourite performances from the tour, one that made me go back and really LISTEN to that song.

And getting back to Michael Buble, I love his sound but he’s in a completely different genre than David. I think David is probably just tired of the constant comparisons to Buble and Josh Groban by those who try to pigeonhole him as a balladeer.

Very well said, Brooklyndawn! I too am raising a glass of wine to toast your post! 🙂

  14. 14 Angelica April 3, 2009 at 10:53 pm

    brooklydawn,

Well timed and very well written post. He has outdone himself and continues to exceed expectations with each new endeavor. How we worry! And with each new worry comes the fresh revelation__he exceeds.

We are going through something new now. Sharing him with the world. I knew it would come. I just didn’t think it would come so soon.

I don’t really feel separation anxiety. I am so proud of him and excited to see this come to pass. A little worried, but that comes with the territory. A definition of Love I read once was, “Anxious concern for the well-being of another.” So a little anxiety is natural when you love someone as much as we here love David.

There is a poem I love called Wait by Galway Kinnell.
    It goes in part:

    Wait, for now.
Distrust everything if you have to.
*But trust the hours. Haven’t they carried you everywhere, up to now?

I would take the liberty to change that to:
*But trust the Archulator. Hasn’t he carried you everywhere, up to now?

There is more to the poem, but it ends,

Only wait a little and listen:
    music of hair,
    music of pain,
music of looms weaving all our loves again.

Be there to hear it, it will be the only time,
    most of all to hear
the flute of your whole existence,
rehearsed by the sorrows, play itself into total exhaustion.

Just wait. As you said, “this ride has just begun.”

  15. 15 djafan April 3, 2009 at 11:13 pm

brooklyndawn- Cheers! That was great… building up the excitement to a palpable buzz, in my head anyways. What a ride and it’s just the beginning.

SF – Thanks for the post djb video, hadn’t gone back to that one in a while, the moment at 3:32, the look on his face is kind of like “whew”, maybe a little shy about what he just did. I don’t know, did anybody notice that?

I’ve asked those familiar with the fair what’s it like, everyone says it’s a really nice place in a really beautiful area by the coast. To make sure and take something warm for the evening time since it cools down considerably. Can’t wait.

Buble, he’s talented and has some great lyrics but his performances are rather dull, but I got to confess everyone else seems dull since the Voice took over my life. No one conveys the emotion of a song the way he does. I watched Prince on Leno, vocally talented and great performer, but no connection with my soul.

    Angelica April 3, 2009 at 10:53 pm
That poem left me breathless! Such beautiful phrasing. I went to read the whole thing.

Raising my glass of “cheap box wine” called “A little to drunk over you.” A toast for David:

I wish you health, I wish you well, and happiness galore.
I wish you luck for you and friends; what could I wish you more?
May your joys be as deep as the oceans, your troubles as light as its foam.
And may you find, sweet peace of mind, where ever you may roam.

    river booked a flight?!

  18. 18 pabuckie April 3, 2009 at 11:39 pm

Djafan, I didn’t go back to rewatch the DLG video from Sayerville but I thinkI know what “look” you’re talking about. Is it the one where he kind of looks down a little bit? If it is, I always thought he was looking at himself, his shirt, like he thinks he popped a button off of it or something because I noticed in the video right after DLG (and I forget which one it is but I think it’s the beginning of ZG, not sure) he is still looking at his shirt like he thinks it’s opened or something…God forbid he shows some skin ha-ha.

Or, if it’s the other “look” where he looks at someone in the audience it’s as if he said “you caught me”. Like you said he was so into it and woke up from his spell and yes, a little shy about what he just did. I’ll have to rewatch it now. I am like CSI when it comes to David…and you seem to be like me when it comes to watching closely…then again, we all are it seems.

“I am like CSI when it comes to David…and you seem to be like me when it comes to watching closely…then again, we all are it seems.”

Haha! thats why I watch with no sound sometimes. The VOICE is way to distracting when I am in WATCH mode.

SF, thanks for pointing me back to that (incredible djbell) DLG! Phew! (And I hadda run watch the Barriers one, too because not only does he crack up so incredibly adorably, but then he regains his composure, after a couple of excruciatingly killa smiles, and BRANGS IT for the rest of the song. LOVE IT!)

pabuckie, uh, the look I’m seein’ in that DLG is the look of a man consumed with passion. =:O

Angelica, the Galway Kinnell poem is wonderful. I looked it up, too. Loved how you pointed his verse to our … situation. 🙂

  21. 21 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 12:05 am

Abrra, you’re so right..sometimes at work that’s all I can do is watch and not hear when I’m trying to SNEEK in a video of David.

Brooklyndawn…great post and that is my favorite picture of David from Jennifer Barry…I was so happy to see that. It stands for conviction and passion BIG TIME.

pabuckie- I am like CSI when it comes to David…and you seem to be like me when it comes to watching closely…

I watched again and lean towards the latter. Yes, I do tend to analyze all he does and watch very closely. I did notice the look after Buble was mentioned.

Abrra – when I notice something that catches my attention… I turn off the Voice so I can concentrate…yes, I have ODD.

pabuckie – did you see the picture from yesterday Abrra and I posted the link to? Passion….

  25. 25 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 12:16 am

djafan, beebee – that look at 3:32 isn’t the one I was thinking – but that “look” says to me “Look what I just did?” instead of the famous “Look what you made me do” in SLC. But, at 3:35 he definitely touches his shirt like he popped a button!

On Fans of David they had a poll earlier to pick the best ZG performance. If they had a poll to pick the best DLG performance, I would pick Sayerville for sure!
    So passionate throughout.

End of Tour Blues – isn’t that a mouthful! So, okay, we just witnessed a tour season (short as it was) of enourmous growth and transformation for David.

So now I have a favor to ask of all of you….. send me your one vote (1, yes only 1) for the best video of the tour. For whatever reason, just tell me why you think it’s THE ONE.

Don’t post them here (happy will kill me if you do), but send me a note through the contact page here

    Thanks everyone!

Abrra – is there a way to find out how the ticket sales are doing for Del Mar?

    DLG from Sayerville for sure.

pabuckie – showing skin…lol. I still sometimes wonder how they got him to do the Guitar Hero in shorts, and get him barefoot in the picture with the dolphin. He is modest and he wrote on one of those teen magazines when asked how he likes girls to dress, modest is hottest…

I tend to agree, there’s a lot to be said to leave something for the imagination.

djafan…I don’t think you’ll need anything too warm in San Diego in the middle of June, especially not when you see David perform, Buh-leev-u-me! It’s an outside venue with a HUGE stage!

David is still in the air..getting closer to his destination and a huge time difference! He’s going to have jet lag on & off for the next six weeks or so! My sis & I were just talking about how he needs to EAT some REAL FOOD! Not just nuts & water! OK, so no dairy products, I get that. But someone needs to FEED him! Just the “abuelita” in me talking & worrying.

    Good night everyone! For David…

    Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
    Amen.

David, sweet dreams. Be safe & secure in our love always! Contigo siempre con amor!
May your journey be happy, safe and all you hope and deserve it to be! May your positive and good Karma attract those with positive and good Karma! May you encounter goodwill and happiness! May you continue to be healthy and strong throughtout your journey in Asia. Take with you all our love, prayers and warm thoughts! Already missing you badly, and loving you madly!

We need a blog or better yet a Vlog real soon!

  35. 35 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 12:41 am

djafan – yeah! That guitar hero commercial is so HOT!
I’ve often wondered that too! And, in his ALTNOY video he wears his sneekers in the sand..no skin…and even in Hawaii there was a clip of him on a beach and he still had sneekers on…doesn’t he want to feel the sand between his toes!

brooklyndawn: I have “end of tour blues”. But your post really helped me. Thank you!

    pabuckie at 12:16 am
In Sayreville DLG, I beg to differ about 3:35 where you said that “he definitely touches his shirt like he popped a button.” If you take another look, he looks down to check the setlist for the next song. He may have touched his shirt because it was in the way of his view. Then he immediately introduced the next song. Watch it again and tell me what you think, please. Amazing how we analyze these things! By the way pabuckie your avi is a killer!

Trying to come up with the best video of the tour is tough. It requires some thought and research. There are so many good ones; it’s hard to pick. I’ll work on it tomorrow.

Nite nite! (I think everyone’s asleep anyway!)

I love this site – I know, I say it everyday (at least every other day). It’s like an ensemble – everyone has a gift, varied in talent, style and aptitude – each and everyone creating one beautiful experience for all jD’s to enjoy.

brooklyndawn – Can’t believe (after less than a year) our David is beginning the promos for his upcoming international tour. Though I never doubted that his music would be with me forever, I was not sure the rest of the world would ever feel that way too. “…….this young man is a force, and although he may be compact in stature, he is strong, vital, and equipped to meet all challenges. We know that the stage is where his magic is made. We know the critics can’t help but tip their collective hat, and give a nod to him because he is the real deal.”

Yet it seems so remarkable in these troubled financial times that he could still sell out his solo tour (even the added venues near the end of tour) and continue to gain momentum as he heads to foreign lands. Can only imagine what joy (and trepidation?) he must be feeling. But rather then fret or sing the blues, I will continue to faithfully watch his videos, listen incessantly to that wonderous voice and when that smidgen of doubt creeps in, I will remember this…..”I would suggest we just catch our collective breath and exhale. Then we strap ourselves in again, this ride has just begun.” Thanks for the Archutherapy.

betsey – so sorry about your stuff…. I can’t seem to run the windows media player right. I tried burning a CD with it but the CD won’t play. Are you tied to an itunes or Zune library? No problem with the Zune (made by microsoft) library, so I will just use that from now on. For ease of navigation on that site and it seems unrestricted (612 videos from other sites – ie; youTube, nD; etc.) so far. I also have an itunes library (ipod) but they have so many restrictions & am constantly losing songs that I’ve downloaded from sources other than itunes.

Sorry, I know I’m violating one of the rules above but feel this might be helpful.

  51. 51 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 8:07 am

Bebereader – I will watch it again…did you go to that concert by any chance? Maybe someone who did would know if he checked the setlist…I don’t remember seeing that in the video but when my computer runs better I can look at a video..right now I can’t. Also, look at ZG the beginning..cause I think that’s the next song he sang and he’s still looking and fixing his shirt in that one too! Thanks for liking my avi – I think he looks really intense, or contemplative here….I just like “the look”.

  52. 52 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 8:15 am

Bebereader – I don’t think it is ZG maybe it wass a longer version of DLG where I saw it. I’ll have to investigate…my computer sucks right now.

    Morning …

Yes Abrra.. I will email you at the other address.

It’s 9:30 PM right now in Singapore.

    Today’s high was 95 degrees.. it’s currently 84.

Here in NJ .. it’s 49 degrees.. with severe winds…showers.

  56. 56 marlie7 April 4, 2009 at 11:43 am

We are doing a little bit of site maintenance, so if things are a little wonky or pages don’t show up as normal, don’t fret, we’ll have it back to normal in about an hour or so.

    Thanks!

  57. 57 djafan April 4, 2009 at 12:42 pm

beebee – hi… here it is…thanks for offering to rotate…can you let me know what software you’re using? Thank you!

  58. 58 djafan April 4, 2009 at 12:52 pm

    David mentioned here…

    http://www.thenewstribune.com/opinion/columnists/story/698623.html

David Archuleta has a nice habit. He’s that perky little teen-ager from Utah who came in second last year in the “American Idol” sing-off. He’s one of the best known young singers in America. Shrieking, slightly insane teen-age girls adore him. Yet he’s polite and respectful. He has his ego under control. He’s almost embarrassed at his success.

That’s a nice habit you have there, David.

pabuckie – I’ve watched over and over… I still think he looks like coming out of the DLG trance and being aware of it. Maybe he did look down at the set list to regroup after that intense performance.

  59. 59 djafan April 4, 2009 at 1:00 pm

Just watched ALTNOY on MTV TR3S (latin version of MTV) top 20, coming in at number 11!!!!!

Great on the big screen . Caught me off guard…makes me so giddy.

  60. 60 bebereader April 4, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Pabuckie – Yes I went to the Sayreville show!!! And it was fantastic!!! ZG followed DLG.

    Courtesy of djbell13, here’s DLG/Sayreville again:

At 2:36, he’s coming out of the ‘trance’.
At 3:34 he looks down, moves his shirt out of the way to check the setlist.

    And here’s ZG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7F7x86qm_M&feature=channel_page

As you said, maybe he popped a button on another song?
Hope your computer is working back to normal again!
Any news of David’s arrival in Singapore?

  61. 61 bebereader April 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm

    pabuckie

    Regarding your avi…those eyes! OMGosh!

  62. 62 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Bebereader – thanks for liking my avi! I love this picture. Also, thanks for the video links although my computer is still very slow and can’t watch any.
It’s funny how no one’s avi shows up on my laptop at home. I can only see them at work when I sneek things in.
I always loved David’s performance at Sayerville – I think it’s one of his best and definitely one of my favorites.

  63. 63 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 2:20 pm

    pabuckie,

I love your avi too. Where is that pic from? I agree with you guys. Sayerville FTW! The FOD poll for the best ZG did not even include Sayerville which is still my favorite. Guess cause it didn’t have the jumping. But he was so intense, I never get tired of watching it. DLG Sayerville was the best of that song too, IMO. He was really in the zone for that show!

  64. 64 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Thanks everyone – but I really don’t remember where I got that picture from cause I have so many. I just really loved it. Sorry, don’t remember.

  65. 65 letafan4ever April 4, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Just read on Team Archie that David arrived safely in Singapore (0200) their time. It looks like that site and two that Fansof david listed will have the most up to dare info on the Asia tour.
It looks like the fans in singapore and Malaysia will be going all out for David.

Leah from Iowa (mostly a lurker)

  66. 66 quiteblanc April 4, 2009 at 3:13 pm

In case you haven’t seen it. A video of David at the Singapore airport!

    Abrra

  69. 69 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Whew! Glad to see he made it safe and sound. Why does he have to carry his own heavy luggage? He kept saying, sorry, I look really bad…yeah, right David.

  70. 70 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 3:23 pm

    Abrra,

You are a wicked good student of Archeology! Thanks.

  71. 71 vee60 April 4, 2009 at 3:25 pm

oopps should be safe and sound

Also he won’t need a hoodie there, too hot

He will need lots of water!!!!!

  72. 72 bluebarsa April 4, 2009 at 3:30 pm

Thanks for the most recent video. Seeing David at the Singapore airport certainly takes away the “End of Tour Blues!” So happy he arrived safely.

  73. 73 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 3:36 pm

Angelica – In the video someone offered to take his bags. He declined. Stubborn.

PEOPLE! HIS PLANE LANDED SAFELY, OKAY. SO STOP ASKING ME WHAT IF HIS PLANE CRASHES AND STUFF. I SAW HIM, OKAY. HE SAW ME OKAY. HE WAS JUST IN FRONT OF ME OKAY. MY LEGS WERE ROOTED TO THE GROUND AFTER THAT.

However, some girls who look like they’re from China were like ‘No!’ but David held out his hand anyway and this Archie (I forgot her name, sorry) was the only one who got a picture with him.

    David is super sweet.

“Wow, you guys actually came? It’s so late already!” – 1.30 am

THE picture with a BIG smile at 1:30 am in the morning

    luv this kid xxxooooxxx

  75. 75 vee60 April 4, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Sorry BIG WARNING for the picture, big as in huge but a nice big smile….

  76. 76 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 4:04 pm

I only saw Ray in that vid. No Jeff. I guess he is flying solo, so to speak. haha!

  77. 77 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 4:14 pm

    Another vid from the airport…

  78. 78 silverfox April 4, 2009 at 4:16 pm

I am stunned! I only saw Ray. No one else was with him?
I am stunned & shocked! Of all the places I thought Jeff would be with David, it would be when David goes overseas. I am just stunned. WOW!

pabuckie,2:27…I think your avi is actually a screen cap pic from the making of David’s video ALTNOY, or the actual video, can’t remember exactly. 😆

  79. 79 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 4:31 pm

SF – I’m shocked also. But I guess now that David has Ray and Ray did such a good job during tour, David has decided that Ray is sufficient. Though I still think I’d feel better if at least one of them was with him…I think David has decided to jump in the deep end after all, despite my protests. haha! Jeff has said he is going to the UK with David. I wonder if that still stands? Hmmmmmm…wait and see.

  80. 80 vee60 April 4, 2009 at 4:38 pm

SF,probably Jeff might follow later…..or not in the same flight… or they might have some relatives there who will take care of him .or the family thinks that David is mature enough to be on his own….

Just continue to pray…. Lots of people there who would take care of him, our baby….

  81. 81 LittleM April 4, 2009 at 4:47 pm

I’m so proud of David! Singapore is a very safe country (much safer than the U.S.). I think David’s label and management would not take his safety and security lightly. I think they know what they are doing. It must be nice for David to experience a little independence! Good for him! 🙂

  82. 82 silverfox April 4, 2009 at 4:59 pm

yeah, maybe Jeff will meet up later. His first official appearance isn’t til Tuesday so who knows?

Let me see, David has been “touring” now since the beginning of the AI Tour and Jeff has been there from the first concert to the Solo tour Finale, with the exception of when Lupe joined David on both the AI & solo tour. I just find it funny that here I was chewing my nails, worrying & saying David will need more than just Ray with him in Asia. Of all the times I ACTUALLY WANT Jeff with David, it’s now. Although, from the video, they did have reps meeting them..did you see the girl telling the fans “no more” & leading David away? hmmmmm? I guess David will be well taken care of! 😆

  83. 83 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 5:12 pm

    NEWSFLASH – this just in:

Revised Schedule of Asia Tour. He won’t be able to go to Hong Kong and Philippines this month. His revised schedule will be as follows:

1st stop in Singapore, will start his promotion from 6-7 April

2nd stop in Malaysia, KL 8-12 April (leave on 12 Apr), It’s been confirmed that he will have a performance on 11 April, 3pm at Sunway Lagoon!

    This was on Teamarchie.com

  84. 84 river992 April 4, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Actually I kept hearing from people who were at the after party that Jeff said he was not going to Asia, but would be going to the UK. He also declined photos saying “I’m just the Dad.” what does surprise me is that I thought Mike was going along to accompany him at these promos. I wonder if instead he’s just going to keyboard. It does seem it’s just Ray and David.. I was looking for someone from the label. Hmm. So glad he’s safe and sound.

  85. 85 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 5:21 pm

River – “I was looking for someone from the label.” I’m pretty sure that the handlers there to meet him in the vid were most likely Sony/BMG Asia people.

  86. 86 LittleM April 4, 2009 at 5:29 pm

river – that’s interesting. Maybe Jeff’s role has officially changed since David turned 18?

  87. 87 pabuckie April 4, 2009 at 5:33 pm

Hey Guys! I justed watched the “Making of ALTNOY” video and yes you were all right my avi is 21 seconds into the video. Thanks.

  88. 88 river992 April 4, 2009 at 5:40 pm

thanks Julie. guess I thought someone from here would go along but that’s pretty naive. I am sure it’s all covered. Love the hoodie.. that seems to be his usual attempt at disguise. As if.

  89. 89 Kizzi April 4, 2009 at 5:42 pm

brooklyndawn: Wonderful article. You hit the mood, the sense of being in a back and forward state at the same time!!

  90. 90 angelofdja April 4, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Whew…I guess I can slow down on the deep cleaning I’ve been doing since he left. I am very glad he has arrived safely. (you should see my closets!)

  91. 91 Kizzi April 4, 2009 at 5:52 pm

http://www.salamahafifi.com/ – account of a young lady that waited at the Singapore airport at 1:30 am to greet David – remember the first time you saw David in person?!!!

  92. 92 silverfox April 4, 2009 at 5:55 pm

As for attempting to disguise himself, he should wear shades..oh yeah, he’s “not cool enough” to wear sunglasses inside! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!! David, the comedian!

He’s gonna fine! He better be fine! He better come home safe & sound is all I gotta say!

  93. 93 river992 April 4, 2009 at 6:01 pm

SF- hilarious about the sunglasses. haha indeed.

  94. 94 river992 April 4, 2009 at 6:02 pm

also remember he said he tried the hoodie thing in St George so that he could go incognito to the grocery store and it failed. Gee, people in Utah recognized him? No kidding.

  95. 95 emmiegirl April 4, 2009 at 6:13 pm

Glad to see even a few seconds of video. He has to be exhausted. Will be peeling that hoodie off pretty quick I would think. Will he dare wear long shorts? Probably not. Look who is talking, I wouldn’t wear shorts until my early thirties.

I was wondering, with the upcoming UK tour, concert with Cook, summer tour and heaven knows what else, this could be the best opportunity for Jeff to spend sometime with Lupe and the family. I would imagine David encouraged it too. Of course, I would guess it took some convincing of Lupe. And from what we saw, Ray is a bulldog.

  96. 96 vee60 April 4, 2009 at 6:17 pm

SF as a reminder here is David with shades.

Do you think this is a good disguise?????

  97. 97 silverfox April 4, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Great disguise! IF he doesn’t SMILE and if he covers the rest of himself with a monks cape & hood!

Oh yeah, and if he doesn’t walk or talk.

  98. 98 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 6:23 pm

I think it’s a good thing for David to be with just Ray for this short trip. Everyone needs to be given a little independence at his age. Jeff, Lupe, and family need some quality time before Jeff leaves for the UK.

  99. 99 renaid April 4, 2009 at 7:56 pm

What a relief to know that he has arrived safely. Poor guy his inner time clock must be really messed up. I just hope he is getting some rest. Do you think there’s a chance that Mike is traveling separately from his home and will meet up with David in Singapore?

  100. 100 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Oh my soul. This is beyond words.

  101. 101 renaid April 4, 2009 at 8:05 pm

I just saw it and am in tears. Absolutely beautiful!!!

  102. 102 angelofdja April 4, 2009 at 8:12 pm

    I am weak…that VOICE…THUD!

  103. 103 juliebug April 4, 2009 at 8:16 pm

    My God…

It was my grandmother’s favorite hymn and was sung at her funeral. She’s been gone nearly 40 years now and I’m kinda sad I haven’t sat and thought of her in a while. Life…you know. Thanks, David.

  104. 104 river992 April 4, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Thanks for posting that. I am so moved.. just have to sit a while and absorb that. What an incredible gift he is.

  105. 105 renaid April 4, 2009 at 8:20 pm

That awesome voice and that gorgeous photo…what more do you need to be happy>

  106. 106 desertrat (aka ebonyangel) April 4, 2009 at 8:25 pm

Brooklyndawn, thanks for such a wonderful post – you’ve summed up my feelings.

Angelica 7:58, thanks for the link. How Great Thou Art is my Angels Tonic. It has completely ridded me of my blues.

I’m not too surprised that David went to Singapore alone. I believe Jeff has known for some time that David is quite capable of doing many things on his own but he (Jeff) wasn’t quite ready to let go.

  107. 107 freofan April 4, 2009 at 8:27 pm

I loved those short videos of his arrival. I’ve traveled to that part of the world and it means so much to have a friendly face greet you. So kind of the fans to meet him at the international arrivals gate. They were classy about it, too, and welcomed him to their country. He must have been so touched. He will be taking off those warmer clothes very soon after getting a blast of hot and humid air!

Looked like he had BMG/Sony label reps there to meet him, and I think I saw Ray, too. Hope he gets a little time to do some touristy things, although I am sure he will be very busy with promo after the label spent the $$ to bring him there.

  108. 108 brooklyndawn April 4, 2009 at 8:27 pm

    Talk about perfect timing.

I have no words for “How Great Thou Art”……my great-grandma taught me that song when I was barely able to speak. Stunning!

I was about to write how wonderful it was to see my first article at justDavid, and how much fun I had reading all of the comments. Now I am just feeling overjoyed and thankful that this young man has such a palate to paint from. The bouncing joy of Zero Gravity, to the fall on your knees reverence of How Great Thou Art. He’s something else, totally peerless. Totally.

  109. 109 freofan April 4, 2009 at 8:30 pm

I wish that David was going to the UK alone, too, for at least part of the time. Who knows? Maybe David will decide he can handle that, too, after doing this trip. I am glad that Jeff is home with his other kids and spouse. It’s been far too long. David has a tour manager, band mates, and label reps now who can accompany him on most promo and tours.

  110. 110 peruu April 4, 2009 at 8:31 pm

    This is my favorite hymn!

So, David has landed safely. I felt so strange, that he’s so far away, but it felt so close. Could even hear him speak!

Just saw this video on youtube, don’t know if you’ll like it. Not the most updated, but still nice, when he’s away:

Guess what, I figured out how to post to youtube today! Yay! Here is Barriers from Reno. I have a whole bunch to upload. You can really get a feel of being in the mosh pit, non front row, and being short.

  111. 111 bebereader April 4, 2009 at 8:47 pm

I’m so relieved to see that David arrived safely in Singapore! A video is worth a million words! The fans gave him such a warm welcome at the airport. You could tell that the feeling was mutual. But why was I tearing up when I saw him? Why? Because he’s our cherished child!

I just saw this on Snarkies site in the comments section about David’s arrival.

    “gemzone said…
….I heard that David just felt that Jeff needed to stay home with the family for a while and thought that Ray could take care of everything that was needed during his stay in Asia.

    April 4, 2009 5:13 PM”

peruu: WTG! You’re right; you could feel what it’s like to be in the moshpit from your video! You could hear the audience’s reaction to every note David sang and every move he made. So exciting! I was at the Sayreville show but not up that close! I never get tired of watching new videos from the tour. Each person has a different perspective depending on their view. There’s something I really loved about your video! Looking forward to more! Thank you!

  112. 112 davidfanLIZ April 4, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Angeliz 7:58 Thank you. I have hoped and prayed to hear David sing that hymn. And now I have. I am quite overcome.

  113. 113 davidfanLIZ April 4, 2009 at 8:53 pm

Angelica – I seem to have merged our names. 🙂

  114. 114 renaid April 4, 2009 at 9:04 pm

  115. 116 renaid April 4, 2009 at 9:12 pm

Oh Thank you! This is something I want to listen to over and over again.

  116. 117 TOfan April 4, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Juliebug, wow, thanks for the How Great That Art mp3 link. I love how prayers get answered so fast around here, lol!

And vee60, 3:36, that picture of sleepy David in the hoodie at the Singapore airport is priceless. Looks like Return of the Archii … May the force be with you, big D! 🙂

  117. 118 river992 April 4, 2009 at 9:49 pm

Brooklyndawn, I forgot to thank you for your post (too excited about my Youtube thingy). It captured my journey for me in such an upbeat and fulfilling way! I could not have done that myself!

Bebe, I just finished uploading My Hands, part 1. Part 2 is still in process. My desk top is so slow. I think it is real interesting too!

But my SLC is really good. It is on my hubby’s Apple lap top. Still need to figure out how to upload from there.

And I have some good pictures on my desk top. Where do I post pictures?

  119. 120 joymus April 4, 2009 at 9:55 pm

    Good Night Everyone!

Can someone please tell me how to download How Great Thou Art to Windows Media Player?
    Thanks in Advance.

  120. 121 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 10:00 pm

Thank you so much, juliebug. I have it downloaded and I think I will burn it to a CD with Be Still My Soul, Angels, Angels is the Alleyways, The Most Beautiful Thing, SOT, Save the Day, and Oh Holy Night. That will do until he comes out with a gospel album.

    brooklyndawn,

“Now I am just feeling overjoyed and thankful that this young man has such a palate to paint from. The bouncing joy of Zero Gravity, to the fall on your knees reverence of How Great Thou Art. He’s something else, totally peerless. Totally.”

He is something totally else. One thing is for sure, with all his options and talent to deliver, he will never, ever be boring. I always think I can’t love him more. How much love can one heart take?

  121. 122 djafan April 4, 2009 at 10:02 pm

He’s there safely! So glad there’s video of him, even so short, I’m so proud of him. Those fans sounded so happy to see him. He doesn’t realize he never doesn’t look good. Looking at those videos from the snarky’s interview, seeing him at the airport… didn’t realize I would feel such anticipation of where he’s headed…the sky’s the limit.

Angelica- That song, that Voice…. unreal. Thank God for mp3’s

  122. 123 tawna21 April 4, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Okay–I just got here today and haven’t gone thru all the comments yet–where are the links that were up top? I wanted to look at some of the performances.

  123. 124 peruu April 4, 2009 at 10:27 pm

Tawna, do you want to see My Hands at Reno, from the moshpit?

bebe, hope you like these too:

  124. 125 river992 April 4, 2009 at 10:33 pm

well good nite all.. I’m relieved to know David is on his next journey. It’s all so exciting for him. How wonderful that he loves to travel and the world loves him back.

  125. 126 tawna21 April 4, 2009 at 10:36 pm

Angelica @7:58– I have NEVER heard that song with so much emotion put into it. I’ve always been partial to Elvis’ singing of it, but David just became #1 for me. I can’t stop the tears/

  126. 127 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 10:40 pm

    peruu,

Love your mosh pit videos. I’m wondering with tawna21, where are performance videos? Maybe the site is undergoing maintenance.

  127. 128 silverfox April 4, 2009 at 10:41 pm

I just listened to How Great Thou Art by David. Mere words can’t describe The Voice. David is The Voice. What a Voice! There is nothing more I can say.

    Good night everyone. For David…

    Dear Lord,
Please take care of David.
    Amen.

    And David…
May your journey be happy, safe and all you hope and deserve it to be! May your positive and good Karma attract those with positive and good Karma! May you encounter goodwill and happiness! May you continue to be healthy and strong throughtout your journey in Asia. Take with you all our love, prayers and warm thoughts! Already missing you badly, and loving you madly!

We need a blog or better yet a Vlog real soon!

  128. 129 joymus April 4, 2009 at 10:41 pm

Can someone please tell me how to download How Great Thou Art to Windows Media Player?
    Thank You.

Tawna21 and Angelica: I think it was mentioned in the last post or maybe at the beginning of this one that the site is indeed undergoing maintenance and would be restored shortly.

peruu….I just watched “My Hands”. Loved how you captured the hands clapping in the air. I don’t think any other video of My Hands shows the clapping. Keep ’em coming, please.

Since we’re sharing random videos I had to share this one.
It’s old but has taken on new meaning after seeing David’s dance moves on tour. So David CAN rock out, after all! Looking forward to seeing some of these moves on his next tour. 😉

  132. 133 tawna21 April 4, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Angelica– we may be needing to order that “gospel cd” from you. Any possibility? I seriously cannot download anything in mediafire. I can get sendspace to work.

  133. 134 vee60 April 4, 2009 at 10:57 pm

Joymus, after you downloaded the mediafire file
    http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=dab4bf2210c8d3cb07258ee67c679e4ae04e75f6e8ebb871

Locate where you saved this file.

Then rather than left click on your mouse to play , do “Right”click and then a window will open and then choose
” Open with , and there you have it , just choose Window Media player.
    Hope that helps.

A few more pictures from Singapore thanks to FOD and an anonymous fan from Singapore

    And this fan wrote this:
“Here are some pictures of David’s arrival in Singapore. He was really sweet. I am so glad that I’ve been able to see someone who has inspired me so much arriving in Singapore. He is just so… Genuine & real. I have no words to describe how fortunate I felt. I now understand what people mean by “no amount of videos/pictures can show how genuine he is as compared to seeing him with your own eyes. Just wow. (:

He wanted to stay back to talk to all the people there but the handlers kept pulling him away.
Oh and David looked really pale when I saw him. Poor David. He was really very sweet although he was sooooo tired from all the flights and stuff. Hopefully he’ll get adjusted to Singapore really soon!”

David, get some sleep and drink lots of fluid , good for jetlag from your Momma from Sydney

  136. 137 mslv April 4, 2009 at 11:02 pm

David, David! Your beautiful rendition of How Great Thou Art brought up so many memories!
Both my husband and I started crying as we hugged each other – this particular song was done by a friend before my son was put to rest.
But you sang it in a way that not only are we remembering painful memories but also putting us in a place of peace and light. THANK YOU.
Again, I want to thank everyone for welcoming me to this site. I am so much at home here.

  137. 138 tawna21 April 4, 2009 at 11:11 pm

Oh bebe–we’ve gone from tears of seeing David’s safe arrival in Singapore, to tears from hearing HGTA, to tears from laughing so hard at the guitar hero dance. David is so dang versatile. How can one person have so much in so many areas of talent? How will I ever sleep tonight?!

  138. 139 marlie7 April 4, 2009 at 11:33 pm

We did some maintenance on the site today, nothing you’ll notice until sometime tomorrow, but I am just going tup to restore access to the performance pages. Shouldn’t be more than 15 minutes.

  139. 140 joymus April 4, 2009 at 11:33 pm

    Hi Vee,
Is there any way to save the file with a different ending other than – html? WMP cannot open the file with that ending and I do not know how to change it even if it can be done. My save options are document or all files. I tried both but it still saves the file as “html”.

  140. 141 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 11:33 pm

    bebe,

Thanks for the guitar hero video. He has a real talent for natural moves. He can relate emotion not only with his voice, but with his whole body. Love that shoulder shimmy at the end.

    tawna21,

I will do my best with the CD. Mostly I just play around till I get stuff to work. I’ll let you know if I succeed and you are welcome to a copy.

You’re so right! I often wonder which genre David is going to make his own because he’s good at everything! Does he really have to choose? He’s the ultimate entertainer!

  142. 143 bebereader April 4, 2009 at 11:44 pm

That shoulder shimmmy is the best part! I nearly fell over when I saw that. Weird how I wasn’t affected by it when they originally showed the video on AI last year.

  143. 144 Angelica April 4, 2009 at 11:45 pm

    joymus,

I’m the last person to give advice,(never stopped me before), but did you go into your computer and make WMP your default to play CDS?

  144. 145 joymus April 4, 2009 at 11:51 pm

    Hi Angelica,
Do you know how to do that? I have WMP amd WMC (windows media center) preinstalled but do not know if that is the default player. I’m one step away from downloading VLC Media Player. Last Sunday I downloaded a trojan virus so I am now EXTREMELY wary of any free software but for David – I’m getting desperate!

  145. 146 beebee April 4, 2009 at 11:52 pm

David’s How Great Thou Art is just so unspeakably divine.

    And bebe, I always say there’s NOTHING like a g.u.i.t.a.r…h.e.r.o…b.r.e.a.k… 🙂

Oh and re: “which genre” I think (ok I HOPE) he’ll embrace as much as he can (which as we all know is a LOT) but I swear I read somewhere where he said he wanted to do “soul-infused pop” (YEAH, BABY!)

Joymus, your file should not be ending in “.html” (should end with “.mp3”) Did you download the mp3? I can email it to you if you’d like.

  146. 147 marlie7 April 4, 2009 at 11:55 pm

joymus–I’ve been using VLC, but can’t figure out how to download the mp3’s from mediafire. I’ve just decided that it’s beyond my figgerin’ it out. Ever since I got that virus from a supposed windows virus scan I’m leary of free, also.

On the recent epic Snarkies interview, David was asked what song he’s played on repeat on his Ipod. He said “The Story’ by Brandi Carlile. Of course I looked it up. He hasn’t steered us wrong yet. If David likes it, it has to be good. This is a beautiful song. But I have a funny habit of imagining David singing any and every song. Anyone else share my habit? 😉

A bit of news on the Tour CD.

I have a few folks already sending me a mailing address for the CD. I have some made up and waiting for the cases, covers and labels from Dawn. She is working on that now and will be mailing a box to me soon. What jD admin has decided is that if you want a Cd, put your email in the contact page at the top of this site and say you want it forwarded to me. I will email you back asking for mailing address and fill you in on some particulars.

Lots to read tonight here. I wonder if David realizes he has so many “mothers”. I am pleased a punch to see him arrive and have our sisters and brothers take him into their hearts for a few days 😉

Betsy: Thanks for the mention of Allentown TBWY. It is beautiful. Is David’s hair parted on the side in Allentown? How did I miss that? It was hard to tell from the other Allentown videos. Anyone know if it was?

How Great Thou Art is one of my favorites and we sing it often at my church. It’s one of the ones I sing for the rest of the day. Sometimes I belt it out on the way home (ps I CAN NOT CARRY A TUNE) just to make my daughters cringe…and I mean that in the nicest way! 🙂

  167. 168 beebee April 5, 2009 at 1:05 am

Abrra, I’ve been meaning to ask (this is really a question for dawn and you, actually) Can dawn make the art for the jewel case and label available as a PDF that can be downloaded? And can you make the tracks for your cd available for download (like from media fire or whatever.) If so, it means that those who are willing and able can “manufacture” their own, saving you guys the extra toil of assembly and shipping. At least for those who can do all that themselves. Make sense? (I just did this with the art for a different CD, using Avery CD label #8942)

There was some confusion as to which side was “side 1”. I told them that the first side is always the one with the “holes to the left.”

One of the wise-guy boys said, “did you just say ‘hoes to the left’?” **laughter** to which I quickly replied without enough thought, “No, everyone just stay where you are. I said HOLES to the left!” ** gasps, then crazy laughter and disbelief**

Betsy, you say that David’s voice could “stop wars”. I think his voice can prevent wars. In the long history of popular music , only one singer could sing pop, country, gospel, and all other genres at the highest level. His name was Elvis Presley. It is not unreasonable to compare David with Elvis. By the time David is the age that Elvis was when he hit the scene back in ’56, he will have already surpassed Elvis in scope and popularity.

bliss– I agree with you on the Elvis theory– it really is not unreasonble to compare the two. Funny thing is, I grew up thru the Elvis era but I really didn’t ‘appreciate’ him when I was younger. I enjoyed listening to him, but that was about it. When Priscilla had the specials on TV about him a few years ago, I took to them and was a converted Elvis fan. I bought cd’s like no other. Then when my husband had a real medical emergency, they pulled me thru a really hard spring/summer with him in and out of the hospital. Too bad I didn’t have David then.

  201. 202 blisskasden April 5, 2009 at 2:13 am

Elvis has been the absolute best male singer in the world since the 1950s. There has been very little debate about it over the years. It’s like the Beatles being the best group ever. There has been some rumbling about The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd or even (holding my nose) Nirvana, but there really is no one to compare with either Elvis or the Beatles. Actually, I kinda liked Gary Lewis and the Playboys, but that’s another story.

David’s voice is already better than Elvis’, and he has a 5 year head start. Elvis was admired from afar. David can be seen shlepping his own luggage off of a plane half way around the world. David will always be one of us, even if lives in his version of Graceland (how about “Archuland”?)

Tawna, the truly great singers not only entertain, they soothe, heal, comfort, and revive. There have been precious few singers of either gender who were able to do even one of these things. Elvis evolved over the years into a singer and performer who could reach people on many levels. David has been on the scene for barely a year, is 18 years old, and can all of these things already in ways that Elvis never was able to do.

David is a physically beautiful young man, almost painfully so, but the beauty that we are “seeing” is really his inner beauty that David is sharing with us. His generosity of spirit, especially when he sings, has never benn approached by anyone.

Could his inner beauty, spirit glow? This must sound crazy but I’m going to throw it out there. In the videos I’ve watched it looks like he’s glowing, orbs…aura, don’t know. I attribute it to the lighting, but I believe that things can be caught in pictures or video that are not seen with the naked eye. I’ve watched some closely to see if this glow changes when the lighting changes, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Then when I saw David live in Pomona I was 5 people back from the stage, and I thought my God he does glow, there is a brightness emanating from him that’s unreal. I’m I the only one seeing this or is my ODD so bad I’m hallucinating.

Abrra – received the mp3 and it works! Thank you.

jackryan: WELCOME BACK! You were missed!

    djafan 2:50 am

You’re not the only one seeing the aura around David. I see it mostly in his eyes in photographs. It’s like an illumination emanating from him. Yeah it sounds crazy and I haven’t verbalized it much but feel comfortable doing it here.

  213. 214 djafan April 5, 2009 at 3:17 am

bebereader – Well I’m glad it’s not just me. At the concert I looked at the people around me wondering if they could see what I was seeing. I was blown away. His eyes at the end of Angels was indescribable.

I haven’t verbalized it much but feel comfortable doing it here.

Neither have I….got the nerve to here.

    djafan:

When I mentioned it to a new fan who is a friend of mine and showed her the pictures where it was most pronounced, the reply I got was “Yes, he has really nice eyes!”
David has beautiful eyes that’s not exactly what I meant.
Sometimes my ODD is just too much. LOL

JR – thanks for those links. Since my computer was cleaned I haven’t been able to download from F2HD.

  218. 220 fandaforeverti48 April 5, 2009 at 4:32 am

joymus1151 – same thing happened to me on sunday. I think the link was from altromed or something like that. It did not infect my computer but could not remove the program that was waitng to do so. I think it was either F2HD or megalaud. Anyway, haven’t been able to download any vids from F2HD but did have success with the mediafire MP3. Looks like several of us were hit. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again, as it was pricey to fix.

Here is A Little Too Not Over You from Reno, taken from the 5th row of the mosh pit. Not the best, but another perspective, like bebe was saying. What I actually could see at that time was much less than what’s in the video, because I raised my arm up to do the taping. My lifted arm was really sore after a while, and had to use the other arm to support it.

I think the audio was good though, and the audience was singing along and cheering throughout. You can feel the crowd’s affection towards him. I still feel touched now. Fans in Asia, show David Love!

Thanks for leaving comments on my Barrier and My Hands youtubes. Really encouraging to this first timer.

tofan940 – “…..that picture of sleepy David in the hoodie at the Singapore airport is priceless.” Yeah, way too cute! “Looks like Return of the Archii … May the force be with you, big D!” Way too funny!!!!!

  221. 223 fandaforeverti48 April 5, 2009 at 5:48 am

JR – is ther any way to convert the downloads from mediafire to sendspace? My computer won’t allow me to access mediafire or F2HD. Like Joymus am getting desperate.

Good morning everyone! I have a question that requires joggling your memory. Way back when David was on AI, I read an article about him that revealed that he was often called upon to visit relatives and neighbors who were in hospital so that he could “heal” them with his singing voice.

I do not remember where I read this, but if anyone recalls such an article, could you please give me the citation? Thanks! 🙂

  224. 226 marlie7 April 5, 2009 at 10:29 am

HG: I thought it was a video that involved Bret or it might have been a CDC article? I remember it, but I’m stretching to reference it.

jackryan – good to see you here. (((jackryan)))

Marlie, you remember a video? I distinctly remember reading that info. I’ll keep looking (for both formats). Thanks!

Good to hear from you again, JR.

Reposting my Cd message for the delurking names:)

A highschool girl from Columbia was here in Canada as part of an exchange program that lasted for a few weeks…I was to the neighbors house visiting when the subject of David came up and none of the ladies there had heard of him…well that has changed of course…The girl from Columbia called home that night and mentioned him and of course her sister went crazy going on and on and how wonderful and handsome he is…what a surprise to everyone…so glad to hear Columbia is in the know!!!

David in the hoodie…my first thought was that he was probably not too pleased with his hair by that time and he probably not feeling too photogenic…

  231. 233 sandybeaches2009 April 5, 2009 at 11:55 am

I was to the neighbor’s house?? Where did that come from…Excuse me…I was at the neighbor’s house…Decaf. does nothing for me…

I’ve been sick, so just trying to start to catch up {{waves weakly}}. I wanted to watch the other snarkygirls interviews (I only saw part 1 before I was flattened), but they are “private”. Does anyone know why? And can they be seen elsewhere?

  235. 237 TOfan April 5, 2009 at 12:15 pm

HG, 10:19, I’ve never read or heard that but I did read something by Brett that mentioned a time when David was hanging out with the family at his house. The kids were goofing around on karaoke, and Brett mentioned how much better he felt after hearing David sing, even from the next room and in that playful setting.

What fun to wake up this morning and see videos of David arriving at the airport in Asia! Just knowing that he arrived safe and sound brings me peace and how sweet that fans were there to welcome him.

As far as traveling semi-solo to Asia, my hubby shared his thoughts with me…

He said, “He’s an 18 year old guy for crying out loud, if he wasn’t starting to entertain thoughts of independence you’d need to start worrying about him.”

"I'm just David and a lot more people know who I am now than before, but it's not like I'm a different person because of that." — Square Magazine, Jan./Feb. 2009

From the notingDavid Archives

"One of the reasons I know that David Archuleta is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience is because there is an entire category of people who find themselves inexplicably drawn to this remarkable young man who are not the kinds of people commonly–if ever–given to fanaticism of any kind.” - Rascal
